I've hardly slept...
I keep thinking of the little motorhome I found yesterday, one that maybe I can actually have! It is not the little 19-ft Airstream Bambi (I didn't name it, they did, it's a line that has been around since the 50s) which is the one I have my heart set on, that is about 3 times the cost of this one, if I could find a good used one. But this would do for starters. Everything I know about it so far is good, or good enough. It needs some cleaning up, a few days worth of work in that, getting into... Sign in to see full entry.

Charlie's Characters
They have moved along, from the kindergarten days when it was all done with attitude and actings-out... Here are a few of his costumed creations, masks and make-ups. http://www.flickr.com/photos/therovingeye/sets/72157625907498149/ Sign in to see full entry.

Charlie
Do you remember in kindergarten, how kids are told that they have to leave their favorite toys at home? They told my son that he had to leave his characters at home: he was confusing the other children. http://www.flickr.com/photos/therovingeye/sets/72157626028278210/ Sign in to see full entry.

It is time...
Now, in this last week in New Zealand, I have begun packing for the return to the US, and I have about 5 lbs of postcards to write and mail before leaving. so... If you would like one, email me an address to send it to, and a few words about what sort of pictures you favor. Azur, we could try this again... I will be stopping over for a brief time in Australia, maybe can mail from there this time. Sign in to see full entry.

The Perfect Shell
Imagine looking at the night sky when there are city lights around, and the most brilliant of the stars punch through the glow anyway... That is how it is, but with birdsong, when the wind is blowing and rushing and moaning through trees and eaves and crevices. When the city lights go out, the stars, the little ones, the subtle ones leap out of obscurity, and suddenly the the sky is full of constellations and star fields. When the wind stops, that's how it is with birdsong. They are singing up... Sign in to see full entry.

Here it comes...!
The New Year... approaching from somewhere off-planet... getting nearer and nearer... I am taking some pleasure in being among the first this time to greet 2011 nearly as soon as it arrives in inhabited areas, or at least, inhabited by those who notice such things and care at the least enough to turn a calendar page. Today has been the second day of blue sky and sunshine in a row, a nice change from the first 3 weeks that did more blustery and rainage than anyone expected this time of year,... Could be worse.
But it is just my camera gone wonky and murdering memory cards. So many photos, gone totally. Some... might be somehow magically accessible. But probably not. Thankfully, I had already collected many of them up to now onto laptop. But I mourn the lost ones... On the other hand... a recent realization is sinking in, I am remembering it when I need to. (This might go well in my Universe blog, but it suits this one, too.) This is it: I get stuck sometimes on what I have, and forget that what really... Sign in to see full entry.

Christmas Greetings!
I am happy to confirm that Christmas Day arrived on the planet just at midnight this morning and is well on its way around the globe to you. This sweet rose was in the garden where we found our Christmas tree. http://www.flickr.com/photos/therovingeye/5288855307/ May it give you cheer! Sign in to see full entry.

The wind is blowing...
Strong and gusty, it knocks the trees around it moans and whistles around the house, playing a tune on every crevice. The trees around this house are nothing like the tall forests I'm used to, they are thick, clustering shrubs that stand twice or three times the height of a man. They are lush with leaf, ranging from little round rattly ones to long whispering needles, and stalks of stiff blades, like agave. Plenty of shapes and sizes to slice the wind into little bursts and wisps and fragments... Sign in to see full entry.
