I sent a query to Team Blogit today, and got back this response, much sooner than I expected it: We recently moved Blogit to new servers, and although all earnings were being recorded properly, there was an error that caused a delay in updating the displayed earnings for some members. The error has been fixed and your earnings should now be displaying properly. So... there ya go! Sign in to see full entry.
Hot Air Balloon Day!
It's a Labor Day weekend event here in the Springs, the big balloon show. Last year, the first I heard of it was that distinctive, periodic roar of the propane flamers, very nearby, and me, falling out of bed, out of the rv, finding a hot air balloon drifing over the house... no, two... three! Wait... More! the sky was full of them! I got a few shots, then drove to some higher ground and captured a few more... The next day I was readier, and drove down toward the park after getting some distance... Sign in to see full entry.

ouch!
Daughter, formerly of New Zealand, and now back in the DC area, has had a stressful week. I mentioned a post or two back that she lost another of her long-time pets earlier this week. And last night, walking the dogs, she was not as attentive to surroundings as she normally is, and when they lunged towards an exciting new other-dog, she went down, and experienced that little moment of certainty, when a finger breaks. She's fine now, as far as that goes--all bandaged up, and going to see an... Sign in to see full entry.

Malerie Yolen Cohen says hello!
She wants all her friends at Blogit to know she is fine and dandy, and working on her Rte 66 book, and articles and sends a particular hello to Taps, Kabu and wossname... Oh, yeah, that guy, Naut... Sign in to see full entry.
Now I've done it...
I finally went and opened a blog where non-subscribed readers can find me. Don't mistake me--this is still home, where I don't really want everyone to have free entry. But for other purposes--such as making specific postings accessible to cheapskates family and friends who never come here, and for linking to samples of my writing, for the occasional resume or job application. Most of what I intend to post there will have already been posted here. If you care to look...... Sign in to see full entry.

My insolent dog
PatB posted a great poem the other day, and there is a line in it about an insolent dog... Today, while one of the housemates was playing a videogame on the tv, relaxed in the recliner chair with his feet up on the footrest, Davy approached... slowly, relentlessly, this dog, the size fo a lab, with the brain of a border collie, approached right up between the guy's legs, slid up onto the guy's lap, and basically just got comfortable. He does this. He seems to think if he is slow enough and keeps... Sign in to see full entry.
I can't stand it.
Inhaling deeply, here... breathing in the Blogit atmosphere... the air of home! I can't stand being away for another three days, just to restart neatly on the 1st. So much to say, to respond to in the world's going's on... So much to read, to catch up with my friends here--most of you know who you are! Quick news summary of some notable events here... My NZ daughter is back in the States, just landed a job directing a rehoming program for the dogs at the Humane Society, bought a lovely... Sign in to see full entry.

My last day for a while...
I hate to be leaving, even for a while... I will miss you all! But right now, even $20/month makes a difference. If you miss my current bits and hollers... there's a considerable backlog. And I will still be adding to the flickr photostream--I will be glad of your comments there, if you visit. And, I promise, I will be back. Sign in to see full entry.

another bit retrieved from my livejournal pages
"May I take your order, sir?" "Yes. How do you prepare your chickens?" "Nothing special, sir. We just tell them straight out they're going to die." Sign in to see full entry.
A look back
Five years ago, I started playing Lord of the Rings Online, and at the time I was writing on Livejournal, too. Today, some spammer triggered a link from one of my posts there, to my gmail, and while the spam was just spam, it was amusing to see this again: Yep, this is right, this is what it ought to be... Second day of sunshine and temps in the F 70 range... Delightful, and there is a place in the path to the house where even with your eyes shut you know a lilac bush in full glory is looming...
