Out of Order

I got two things last night--sitting out on my porch when I got home. One, a tube of maps I'd ordered online from National Geographic, one a box of books with my shipping label but someone else 's books. Turns out the packing list in my tube was incomplete, also: two items not on the list as shipped, and three not shipped at all. This isn't even getting into the two maps that were back-ordered. So... since I paid by paypal, the gal at Customer Service had to refund the missing items there, and... Sign in to see full entry.

Monday Morning Gerbil Report

The girls are full of energy this morning, scritching away madly in their new box. They slept huddled in a corner of the tank last night because yesterday they ate their nest box. Well, shredded it. Most of it. It is now the foyer to the new box, a striped tissue box of the standard width but of the flattish sort. I stuffed a couple of tissues inside from which they can make softer nesting material. They seem not just busy, but actually enthusiastic, maybe even delighted. I don't know how one... Today's Morning Gerbil Report

Crumpet and Alice were quiet when I came out this morning, but upon my messing about with their habitat, both became quite busy. Fresh water and food set out, not yet hidden under cage litter, though they likely will be before noon. Castle has been replaced with Wheel; nest-box has been altered with the placement of a widish cardboard tube in the entrance creating access by tunnel; box has been shifted out of its corner and Crumpet has been diligently creating a back door to the box. It is... Sign in to see full entry.

finally, photos...

...of the last of the Christmas lights on a snowy day... then I got a little fascinated with the curtains....of a dozen David Winter Cottages--I have wanted to collect some of these since I first saw them years ago, and this week I found these in an antique mall in town for a wonderfully ridiculously low price....of Crumpet and Alice at home. They have an ever-changing habitat, which today is a little castle with a feature Charlie calls a 'reverse gerbil-faucet.'... Sign in to see full entry.

Woohoo!

Adnohr did it, at least, I lay it at her door because hers is the latest comment on this blog. Amanda dropped by with a calling card 2 hours ago, but Adnohr's comment was 42 minutes ago, and rolled over my visitor count to 14,000! And Charlie gets credit, too, for giving me so many things to write about and for you to read about! Thanks, everyone who visits often or now and then--comments are always welcome, but all visits are appreciated! Sign in to see full entry.

Charlie says...

..."Thank you!" for all the encouraging and congratulatory words from you who've commented on my proud-mom-postings! Here is what he said on Facebook: This last week has been a very interesting and rewarding week. I'm back home now, with a new set of props to make (these are already looking really cool), new ambitions, new skills, a new computer (one power cable to go!), new friends, and a new belief in myself. It sounds hokey, but I really am seeing things in a different light. I know now that... Sign in to see full entry.

Let's see if this link works...

After the show there was a party and Charlie walked "Eddie" around to meet people, and it was really funny how, when "Eddie" reached out his hand, people just about could help but shake hands with him. I only saw one guy cringe back.... Sign in to see full entry.

...It's really just a glade with some trolls in it.

We are just back from Denver and tonight's culmination of the week-long intensive workshop of Bill Pullman's THE WILD HUNT. It wasn't a show really, but a showcase for donors and others to see how the project is coming along. It's coming along just fine! There will be pictures later of some of the puppets and props that Charlie had a hand in creating. It wasn't a situation where I could take pictures of the production but there were selfies with Bill. And there is Eddie. Eddie is the puppet who... Sign in to see full entry.

Prompted by TAPS' post about Bad Boys...

and by yet another report in the news of a billionaire trying to buy the election of another totally unqualified Presidential candidate... When it seems inconceivable that anyone can be so utterly, obviously, shamelessly self-serving, it is time to rethink how we think other people think: what they want from life is not what we want from life, their priorities therefore are not the same as ours, and what they can justify to themselves is not what we consider justifiable. It is imperative that we... Sign in to see full entry.

Puppets on stage

It's snowing still, since yesterday afternoon, I see about 3 inches on the back porch rail. Plans to go out have stalled. Charlie has been in Denver all week, working on the WILD HUNT project with Bill Pullman, more specifically with Jack Pullman, Bill's son, who is in charge of props, masks, and puppets. Apparently puppets are a big part of this production. He got to check out a dino-puppet yesterday--not part of this show, but on the premises where they are working. By 'check out' I mean, he...
