Ever tell the checkout machine that you want cash, then by the time you've collected all your groceries and been distracted by this and that, you forget to pick up the cash that came out of a slot about the level of your knees...? Yeah, I did that a couple of days ago. Charlie went in the next day and asked about it, just in case someone had turned it in. One might scoff at the idea of anyone not grabbing $40 and running with it, but I would turn it in, and I am not the only one. So there is a... Sign in to see full entry.

"INTERNET SECURITY ALERT!" SCAM Solution!
Just got hit with this infuriating piece of bs again... and found a quick and easy fix: It starts with a big blaring warning page that you can't get rid of. But you can! Hit contro/alt/delete all at one time... It takes you to Task Manager which shows you a list of activity on your computer. Click on your browser--Chrome, in my case--to bring up the end task option. I had several Chrome things going, selected the top heading that included them all, and ended that task. It doesn't take the... Sign in to see full entry.
Movie Night: BLADE RUNNER 2049
I watched the first BLADERUNNER back in the 80s at a theater, on the big screen. It was so good, yet such a dark, rainy, dismal atmosphere throughout, when I left the theater I did a double-take at the clear evening sky, that rich late-evening blue... This sequel set 30 years after the first, the atmosphere is not only still dismal, but it is wholly believable that the world has further deteriorated from that time, one can see the slow decline. The story is dark and dreary, too--not an uplifting... Sign in to see full entry.

The hail that didn't
All our preparations drove off the hail, we didn't even get rain though we had a nice view of it. We have had plenty of wind... And I got some nice shots of the clouds in the east, touched by sunset... https://www.flickr.com/gp/therovingeye/1X3NhM Sign in to see full entry.
Afternoon thundershowers...
Dark clouds sailing slowly across the sky in our general direction... reports of big hail coming from friends here in the Springs... I've brought all the outdoor potted plants inside or covered them with wire mesh baskets. Charlie has taken the rubber floor mats and tarps and covered the windshields. Surely these preparations will prevent any hail from actually landing. Big hail won't hurt us, forewarned as we are, but it will shred the big maple tree, I fear. There is nothing I can do to... Cool and cloudy...
Last night, I went to bed listening to the music of falling rain. That is such a welcome and refreshing sound in this high desert country! Today is still mostly cloudy with the suggestion that we might have thunderstorms in the afternoon. Charlie, with his outdoors job, particularly likes this kind of weather. He didn't get a call-back regarding that commercial, but a housemate whose poverty he's absorbed for a while now paid him back in full yesterday, so he is suddenly out of his own survival... Connections
We went to the Pike's Peak Celtic fest today, enjoyed the music, the caber toss, some good fish'n'chips, and finding--not family, exactly, but sort of. Charlie's middle name is McLean, after the clan his dad's family has connections with. Today, he was welcomed by the Maclean clan who, among other clans, had a booth at the festival. Among notable Maclean relatives, it turns out, are Shirley Maclean and Sean Connery. The folks at the booth were delighted to find another, regardless of the... Sign in to see full entry.

Welcome to Friday
The last day of the regular work week... The day garage sales and theater productions open... The last chance this week to get business taken care of... I dropped Charlie at work then went to the bank for a bit of financial shenanigans, now I am at home before going out to take my primary ballot to the drop-off place after checking to make sure I signed with the signature they have on file for me. Then, pet store for fish food. It will be another but the last really hot day for the... Sign in to see full entry.

Hailorado!
Last night parts of the Springs had a little hail. Like here, for about 15 minutes, maybe 10, half-inch hail pounded on the roof, richoceted off every surface... I was glad I'd taken in my succulents, seeing the possibility of rain. Succulents generally don't like much water, not all that often. Afterwards, there was rain falling heavily for a while, then just lightning across the whole sky from east to west. It was quite a show! But south of us, and southwest, in the Fort Carson, Fountain... Sign in to see full entry.
