GoldenMean, in previous comments, brings the conversation around to a problem of interfacing with thought-forms, especially when they are not one's own. When a notion of a reality, for example, a relationship with the Divine--a proper relationship with the Divine--gains power, sometimes part of the thought-form is that it should gain still more power by increasing its sheer quantity of believers: The more believers, the more thoughts feed into the thing, the more 'real' it becomes.
