"Sorry, but my karma seems to have run over your dogma..."

Karma is another of those words that slips and slides through our understanding in a variety of interpretations. Most generally it seems to be translated as Fate or Doom. To modern ears, Doom is a grim word, implying death and disaster. Originally, though, it meant pretty much the same as Fate: the path ordained for a person by the inteventions of Divine notice. Back then, whenever that was, it didn't sound so terrible or odd to be 'doomed to love and fulfilment.' But maybe the sinister aspect... Sign in to see full entry.
