Is Tough Love Wrong?

I’ve written on conditional and unconditional love a few times over the past year, and have even questioned whether “tough” love is an appropriate method to use because it is a form of conditional love. After much meditation and research on unconditional and conditional love, I am coming closer and closer to the conclusion that “tough” love is wrong. Briefly, here is my reasoning. Unconditional love is the love and acceptance of a person, regardless of what they do. Tough love is love with... Sign in to see full entry.

Can You Love Unconditionally for 24 Hours?

Agapē (in Greek written αγάπη; pronounced "ah-GAH-peh" or "AH-gah-peh") is the Greek word for divine, unconditional love. ( Wikipedia) William Barclay, the Scottish theologian and scholar, defined agape this way: “Agape has to do with the mind: it is not simply an emotion which rises unbidden in our hearts; it is a principle by which we deliberately live” ( New Testament Words, p. 21). This is what we are supposed to do. This is what Yeshua asked us to do. There really is nothing else we have to... Sign in to see full entry.

Within You . . .

Within you is all you need. Within you is unimaginable. Within you is pure. Within you is unadulterated. Within you is cosmic. And it is there, simmering just below the surface, yearning to be loosed on the universe. You can feel it if you let yourself. In a quiet moment, as you reflect silently on your journey, it lets itself be known to you. A goose bump on your arm, a tingle of the body, it’s calling you. The trouble is, you’re not listening. Whether it is fear of the unknown, fear of the... Sign in to see full entry.

Mysticism and Union With "God"

Mysticism, according to its historical and psychological definitions, is the direct intuition or experience of God; and a mystic is a person who has, to a greater or less degree, such a direct experience -- one whose religion and life are centered, not merely on an accepted belief or practice, but on that which the person regards as first hand personal knowledge." Evelyn Underhill Mystics of the Church I've been studying mystics and mysticism (Christian mainly) for the past few years, and I just... Sign in to see full entry.

Science is Proving "God" Exists

I have copied the text below from an interview with Amit Goswami, an internationally renowned physicist from Oregon, on science proving spirituality. It's from an interview on the concept of all of the universe being made up of consciousness, not matter. The whole interview can be found at http://twm.co.nz/goswam1.htm WIE: What you are saying is that modern science, from a completely different angle—not assuming anything about the existence of a spiritual dimension of life—has somehow come back... As Co-creators with "God" of the Universe, We Can Affect Physical Reality

Want to see how we affect physical reality? Want to see how we are a part of the creative process of this universe?. Check out a page at the “What the Bleep Do We Know” website ( http://www.whatthebleep.com/crystals/ ). This is a page on Dr. Masaru Emoto and his work with water crystals. He has shown that concentrated thoughts and feelings affect reality. In his research, Dr. Emoto took plain water and either spoke to it, played music for it, or attached strips of paper with words on it to... Sign in to see full entry.

Can One Be Born and Live Their Life Without Sinning?

In a discussion on a mysticism board recently, I got into a debate with a gentleman about sin. The discussion centered around whether any person can be born without sin. This discussion started because of a statement I made that I believe that we all are born without sin, but can (and most do) “miss the mark” and move away from “God” as we grow and mature – thus sinning. My specific statement centered around the fact that I believe that there have been those who have walked this earth who have... Sign in to see full entry.

Loving "God" Isn't the Best Answer

Speak to a Christian person of the cloth about one’s problems and at some point in the conversation, as part of the solution, one is bound to hear the statement that “Loving God is the first step,” or something similar. This however, is not true. One can’t truly love "God", or anybody else for that matter, until one love’s oneself unconditionally. If a person loves someone else without totally loving him or herself, the love that is expressed for the other will be conditional. There is no other... Sign in to see full entry.

What if Judgment Day is Every Day?

Judgment Day. For many Christians, this is the day of reckoning that is coming. It is not known when, just that it is coming. But what if it’s not coming? What if it is here every day? The dictionary definition for judgment (American Heritage College Dictionary) is “the formation of an opinion after consideration or deliberation.” In the justice system, this means that a jury of one’s peers form an opinion based on deliberation of the evidence provided. In Christianity, it means that God will... Sign in to see full entry.

Additional Christian Fathers Support of Reincarnation

Continuing on with Christian church fathers who believed (or believe) in reincarnation, we find Synesius (370-430), Bishop of Ptolemais, who wrote in his Treatise On Dreams: "Philosophy speaks of souls being prepared by a course of transmigrations...When first it comes down to earth, it (the soul) embarks on this animal spirit as on a boat, and through it is brought into contact with matter...The soul which did not quickly return to the heavenly region from which it was sent down to earth had to...
