I remember it as if it were yesterday. I was standing in my living room with an incredibly large smile on my face. I had been smiling like that for about an hour. This smile was a result of the indescribable feeling that had settled on me an hour or so earlier when I experienced what some would call a “kundalini experience”. For several hours I had been meditating and “journeying” and after completion, as I walked out of my bedroom, the kundalini experience, or the awakening, happened. There... Sign in to see full entry.

Should We be Apprentice Prophets?
According to the dictionary at Answers.com, one definition of a prophet is one who is gifted with profound moral insight and exceptional powers of expression. Wayne Teasdale, in his book “Mystic Heart”, writes about prophets and prophecy from that particular perspective. He defines a prophet as one who speaks up against injustice and tyranny in the world. And prophecy then, is the act of speaking up. As travelers on the spiritual path, if compassion and love is the goal, then is it not our duty... Sign in to see full entry.

Is Your Compassion Active or Passive?
Compassion - A deep awareness of the suffering of another coupled with the wish to relieve it. (American Heritage College Dictionary) Action – The state or process of acting or doing. (American Heritage College Dictionary). Compassionate Action – One who acts in a compassionate way. Yeshua expects us to act in a compassionate manner. He uses the story of the Good Samaritan to demonstrate this point. Throughout the New Testament are examples of his compassion. And we are told by the author of 1... Sign in to see full entry.

Live Simply, That Others May Simply Live
A simple life, one of the hallmarks of those who are truly working to reunite with “God”, is probably an unattainable goal for many on the spiritual path. The demands on today’s parents and/or working adults makes living that life nearly impossible. But we can simplify our lives by keeping the idea of simplicity, at least from a spiritual perspective, at the heart of anything that we do. A simple life, from a spiritual perspective, means to take the statement from Ghandi, to “live simply, that... Sign in to see full entry.

Eulogy for Tolerance
We’re here today to pay tribute and last respects to Tolerance. It’s been a painful life for her over these past few years - her death a slow one. Her once vibrant energy had withered considerably since her last heyday (in the 1960s). She held on by shear will, the memories of those early days, and a strong desire to return to those days when everything was possible. But unfortunately, the realities of this world were stronger than she. Tolerance’s first brush with the limelight came through an... Sign in to see full entry.

Cut My Indian Friend, and I Bleed. Kill My Inuit friend, and I Die
As I have mentioned before I am a fairly simple man on a journey that ultimately (some day) leads to union with “God”. I meet a lot of people of various faiths as I travel down my path and it always makes for interesting conversation. Some have beliefs about “God” that are similar to mine. I listen to them as they share their stories. Some have beliefs that are very different from mine. I listen to them as they share their stories. Some have beliefs that are a bit of stretch for such a simple... Sign in to see full entry.

Fear and Love: The Only Two True Emotions We Have
Fear. It’s the absence of Love. These two are the only true emotions we have. Joy, silliness, happiness are all aspects of Love. Anger, jealousy, hate are all aspects of Fear. Since fear is the absence of Love, then only by loving can we rid ourselves of fear. But there is a catch to this. We’ve got to love ourselves unconditionally first. This will only happen when we forgive ourselves. Therein lay the catch. To forgive means to excuse a fault or an offense. We are by nature fault-generating... Sign in to see full entry.

Yeshua Preached Celibacy, Even for Those Married?
Here is an interesting argument. Amy-Jill Levine, writing for Beliefnet, believes that Yeshua thought that sex is wrong – even between two married people. She gave several examples to support this idea. She wrote that some who claim that Yeshua implied sexual intimacy in his statements against divorce were wrong. “To be one flesh,” as he said, did not mean to have sex, as many claim. It meant to “create a new family” determined by loyalty, not biology. She wrote that the Hebrew word for “cling”... Sign in to see full entry.

Everyone is on a Spiritual Journey, Whether They Know it or Not
Humanity is on a spiritual journey. Whether we believe it or not, whether we even know it or not, it is happening. And each of us is on a different part of the journey. Some of us have been doing it a long time and have wandered far down the path; some of us have been doing it a long time and are still near the entry gate. We become fascinated by some part of the path and it keeps us from moving farther down it. Some of us have just come through the gate and really have no idea where we are... Is Morality Relative?
In earlier posts I have stated that I believe morality is relative. Most will agree with this statement because, on the surface, it makes sense. What may seem right for one person in one culture may not be right for another in a different culture. In a comment on a blog recently, I even stated that a culture that partakes in cannibalism is doing what it thinks is right, even if we in America (and other cultures) don’t think it’s right. As I have thought more about it, I no longer believe that. I... Sign in to see full entry.
