Mother Teresa once said, when asked how she is able to take the dying poor from the streets of Calcutta and nurse and love them, “I realized a long time ago that I had a Hitler within me.” What a powerful statement. What a true statement. We each have a Hitler inside of us. It is the false-self that Thomas Keating refers to, the one that, as he says, “is developed in our own likeness rather than in the likeness of God.” This false self, or Ego, is what drives us all, to varying degrees. It is... Sign in to see full entry.

I Am Supposed to Die on January 20th, 2032
According to Deathclock.com, I am supposed to die on January 20th, 2032. This will make me 74 years old. I answered some questions about my health and activity level, and this is the date it gave me. It's kind of nice to know, so I can plan - make sure my shoes are shined and that I don't have a hole in the underwear I wear that day. But it got me to thinking. Is this when I am supposed to die based on a plan by "God"? Does “God” have a plan for each of us? Is there something that each of us is... Sign in to see full entry.

My Ego's Toy -
Each day awakens with promise My loving heart awash in joy Though honestly I am remiss Not to mention my Ego’s toy While I strive to offer loving praise As I walk my challenging path My Ego’s toy finds many ways To impart its misplaced wrath My Ego siezes each moment When I find my guard is down To move its toy ahead hell-bent On tarnishing our Master’s crown It relishes each pained mistake To act on its devious ploy There is no higher cost at stake Ashamed, I am my Ego’s toy. Humility: The First Step Toward Divinity
We are born divine. We are made in the image of “God”, which includes divinity within. It is our birthright and our duty to seek that divinity within us as well as to seek it in others. What keeps us from doing this? Why is it so hard? Life keeps us from doing it. Family, school, work, surviving keeps us from doing what we were born to do. But we can begin to do that which we were meant to do if we keep one thing in mind during our busy days: humility. If we remember as we take the kids to... Sign in to see full entry.

Evil Does Not Exist - Here's Proof
This is not my story, but it is the best explanation of good, evil, dark and light with regard to “God” that I have ever come across. I had to share it: A University professor challenged his students with this question. "Did God create everything that exists?" A certain student bravely replied, "Yes, He did!" "God created everything?" the professor asked again. "Yes, sir!" the student replied. The professor answered, "If God created everything, then God created evil, since evil exists. And,... "God" - An Ego-based Name for an Egoless Entity
I have a concept of what “God” looks like. This is my interpretation of “God”, so it is based on my experience. My picture of “God” may look similar to yours, but probably not exactly the same. I’m very comfortable with my picture of “God” and gladly share it with anyone who asks. But there is one thing wrong with my picture: It is based in Ego. A picture of “God” based in Ego. How big an oxymoron is that? Trying to describe an Egoless entity with Ego-based words and pictures is near sacrilege.... Sign in to see full entry.

Truth is One
I love this from Ramakrishna, it really fits in with my beliefs: People workship God according to their tastes and temperments. The mother cooks the same fish differently for her children, that each one may have what suits his stomach. For some she cooks the rich dish of pilau. But not all the children can digest it. For those with weak stomachs she prepares soup. Some, again, like fried fish or pickled fish. It depends on one's taste... I see people who talk about religion constantly quarreling... Greetings Divine One
Okay, please humor me while I offer up another bit of verse: Greetings Divine One. Sitting next to me on the bus, experiencing the moment. Greetings Divine One. Sharing our bed each night, enjoying one love. Greetings Divine One. Reaching out to those less fortunate, helping them up. Greetings Divine One, looking back at me from the mirror. Light the way. I Awake to Sleep
I awake to sleep. I see the world in rich colors and textures With breaths slow, deep and rhythmic I sleep to awaken I experience the world’s rich colors and textures With sensations slow, deep and rhythmic I see the world, I experience the truth Sign in to see full entry.

Fear is a Silly Emotion
Fear is a silly emotion. Think about it. Fear is the opposite of Love. More specifically, fear is the absence of Love. Love is all-encompassing. Love is everywhere and in everything. If Love is everywhere and in everything, then there is no absence of Love. If there is no absence of Love, then there is no fear. If there is no fear, then any fear we experience is an illusion. So for those of us who fear, we are wasting our time on a silly illusion. We are using precious life to purchase pieces of... Sign in to see full entry.
