Another gorgeous day today and my day off, so Ed and I came up to the bungalow last night and walked to the garden centre this morning. It was so warm I had to remove my anorak and tie it round my waist. Not elegant, but funtional. Of course, If I hadn't worn the thermal vest, the polo neck and the... Sign in to see full entry.
A gorgeous Spring morning yesterday, so I trundled out the bike and cycled the three and a half miles to St Mary's for Morning Prayers. The birds are very active now and hopefully the bees too, as long as global warming doesn't scotch their ardour. It was a lovely cycle ride until just after the Box... Sign in to see full entry.
It's Tuesday when I usually walk to the next village for Morning Prayers, but today it was drizzling so I chickened out and took the car. Half an hour later when we'd finished, it was dry so I could easily have walked. Oh well. Another day without exercise. I also meet with Nigel the Curate on... Sign in to see full entry.
Phew! Isn't it difficult to get back to work! Yesterday, taking just a couple of services, was fine. But not so easy today. I walked to the next village carrying my laptop in order to lead the first Lent group. I've got five BBC radio plays about the life of Jesus, set in the first century but with... Thank you all for your lovely comments and good wishes. What a week we had! Sixteen members of the family were able to join us and we had a ball! The holiday site has facilities for swimming, table tennis, snooker, pool, gym, as well as rescue horses (three-year-old Leilah loved them), a bar... Sign in to see full entry.
We had a great evening yesterday, enjoyed by all. We shared a meal together and while we were eating, watched the film, ‘Son of Man’ - the story of Jesus but set in contemporary Africa. It was extremely powerful. Then we followed with a very short Celtic Holy Communion. I offer you the first part,... Sign in to see full entry.
Yesterday was Shrove Tuesday so naturally we had pancakes, cooked and expertly tossed (well, nearly) by Ed. Delicious they were too. Today is Ash Wednesday when we usually have a Communion service in the evening, but it's never very well supported. So this year, in a change to the expected... Sign in to see full entry.
Led a Quiet Day on Saturday for a neighbouring parish who are without a Rector at the moment. What's a Quiet Day? you might ask. It's like a retreat taster, only lasting a short time rather than a weekend or a full retreat. In this case, from ten 'til three. Even for those few hours it can be quite... Ed and I came up to the bungalow last night prior to my day off today, when I had a call on my mobile phone. "So what?" you might say, "everyone receives millions of calls on their mobiles daily." Not me. I almost never receive calls. And as it happens, didn't receive last night's call, which... Sign in to see full entry.
Had a letter a few days ago. One of those awkward ones I didn't want to reply to, so I put it on one side to do later when I'd thought about it a bit. Just one tiny problem - now I can't find the letter. Did I throw it out on that momentous occasion when I actually cleared the desk? Have I put it in... Sign in to see full entry.
