It’s been many years since the last time that I tried to quit smoking cigarettes, and to tell you the truth, I had forgotten just how awful the whole process really is. I had forgotten the insidious torment of nicotine withdrawal, the overpowering URGE to keep right on smoking, because it is probably too late, anyway, the sleepless tossing and turning at night, hearing that pack of cigarettes calling to you, from across the room where you hid a few, just in case, etc. All of this has come back... Began taking Chantix yesterday, trying for a last chance to die of old age, instead of lung cancer. Reading through the side effects, to be sure brain tumors, dementia, lung cancer, or liver failure were not listed among the risks, I cavalierly dismissed things like nausea, insomnia, nervous agitation, irritatbility etc, but did notice the part that warned about increased risk of suicidal thoughts. I wrote this at least two years ago, when the commercial that is mentioned, was currently running. The pixiehaired, waiflike model in the ad, later wore a filmy powder-blue dress in another one, slipped her dress over her head, and tossed it into an LG clothes drier to refresh it, and remove any wrinkles.
