USING THE FORMULA THAT WORKS FOR ME...

I t’s a given that all of us have a different formula for writing. We are told that the best way to improve our writing is to write and I suppose that works for most. Regular practise has helped me tremendously, but I still don’t write everyday – well, at least, not creatively. Right now, I’m... Sign in to see full entry.

I READ A BOOK

I read a book this past weekend. It’s not what I’d call brain food, but it was an interesting read none-the-less. Even as I raced through it, I read it as a writer. I found fault with it even though the writer is a best seller. She seemed to like the word mellifluous, a lot. (So too the phrase... Sign in to see full entry.

WHERE AM I GOING WITH THIS?

S omeone who reviewed something I wrote recently, remarked that the story could go in several different directions. I took a closer look and realized that she was right. Unknowingly, I was adding layers to my story. Now, I re-read what I write, thinking about what interesting twists I can add to my... Sign in to see full entry.

HAVE YOU DONE THIS LATELY?

T he writing and reviewing that I’ve been doing over the past few months have helped me tremendously. Humor me and check out the experiment below. In looking at other people’s writing, as well as my own, I can see excess words that really do nothing to help express our thoughts. There are words we... Sign in to see full entry.

AM I JUST NATURALLY BRILLIANT OR AM I LEARNING AS I GO ALONG??

I place a high premium on learning. I don't meet each day saying, what will I learn today? but I do maintain that I learn something new. You may recall, a few months ago I wrote a post asking whether novel/writing software actually work. I can't recall if there was anybody who'd said they'd used... Sign in to see full entry.

BEFORE I GO POP, BANG, FIZZLE!

Two days later here I am again. I have been way too busy, but I’ve also been writing for all I’m worth. When I have one of these intense writing periods, I don’t stop to ask questions or wonder why. I just write until I fizzle. Catch you later! Sign in to see full entry.

THAT'S IT?

I ’ve been sitting here looking at this blank page since early this morning. I’ve been working around it, but keeping it open. I’ve hit the keys a few hundred times in succession and then each time, I deleted those bits of brain fart. Here I am again on the next go round, a few minutes to spare and... PRIMING THE PUMP

A few days ago, MerryAnne wrote a post Empty Page, Empty Head wherein she talked about whether creative ideas ever totally dry up. I left her a comment and she responded, saying that we must do something – ‘prime the pump’ to keep our writing moving along. I thought about that this morning and... Sign in to see full entry.

I NEED MORE INPUT....

A couple of days ago I posted this to my main blog, but did not not get much of a response so here goes..... I am about to write another article on writing networks. The article will be targeted at those who may want to know how being part of such a network can improve their writing. Would you care... Sign in to see full entry.

WRITING FOR SIMPLE ENJOYMENT….

I 've realized over time, that I have stories to tell from the random bits and pieces of other people’s history that I have in my head. Full realization came from a story I posted here – Catharsis. There were comments that it had the makings of a good read and could be explored from various angles.... Sign in to see full entry.
