Half past nine

Just grabbing a quiet few minutes to sift through my thoughts. I am quietly going nuts.. but that's not unusual is it? (smile). Mum likes her room at the new nursing home, and is eating quite well - so far so good. Meanwhile a dear friend is currently sitting with her mother, nearing the end of her... Mind the Step

For some reason my ribcage has been hurting more than usual today. I should backtrack a little... last week, ten days ago actually, I took some stuff to the tip, and leaned over the skip a little too far, and stretched a little too much. I banged my lower rib and felt something tear, but could still... Sign in to see full entry.

Sort of sorted (1,000 words so be warned!).

Today we had planned to have some time taking to the tip some of the things I'm having to clear out from mum's house. That all changed this morning when my sister woke up. After a bad night with intense pain in her left hip, she wasn't going anywhere, and the doctor was called in. I said I wasn't... Sign in to see full entry.

And so to bed

I'm exhausted. After a frustrating half hour trying to organise British Gas to come out, signing up to a year's contract in the process, I had a call back from my plumber. He has done quite a lot of work for me over the past few years, but it's his partner who does the boiler side of the business.... Sign in to see full entry.

Not fine

She has paid the old rate only. That means she is in breach of contract - how can they have been 'signed' if I put on it the new amount and signed my side, and she has paid the old amount which I didn't agree to? I should have known she would pull something like this. But today is quite a big day.... Sign in to see full entry.

It looks like the big guns worked. I received a text at 7 30 this morning to say that she's made a payment and the contracts are signed. She's still complaining about the boiler coming on and off all the time and has taken a video of this in the early hours (!!??). She 'really feels' I 'may well... Sign in to see full entry.

Threats, even ...

I haven't had a very positive response from the lodgers since telling them the rent is going to be a lot higher for the extra month they want. The wife is telling me they are 'disappointed' that I have 'belatedly' backdated the £25 a month shortfall between what I asked for in the summer, and what... Sign in to see full entry.

One foot in front of the other

I am probably (or, in truth, definitely) the world's worst negotiator, when it comes to matters financial. I gave my lodgers a 'mates rate' rental agreement, and it was more than generous. I told them, after 15 months, that I was going to put the rate up by £50 per month, and she argued it, and... Sign in to see full entry.

Poor mum is back in hospital. The move to the rehab/nursing home finally took place on Thursday but, it turned out, she really wasn't well enough. My sister wasn't happy when she left after visiting, mum said her lungs didn't feel right, and my sister thought she could hear that something was wrong... Sign in to see full entry.

A Gentle Glow

A lovely compliment from my dearest today while I was cooking. He said he thought he and I would have worked out okay the first time around. I'm still smiling. It made me happy... better late than never, I said. Perhaps this should just be my little secret... but I didn't want to forget so this is... Sign in to see full entry.
