Yes one has to be careful about taking up money on ones house etc. There are many aspects to consider. Second marriages for example, first marriage children allowing  step mom to live on in comparative comfort when the house will belong to them. It does seem that one should pay more attention to ones final destination. Sounds rather heartless but advice is warranted. 'I want to go back home.' No good if everyone has bought new cars. 

It will be a hard book to write,but it could make many happy in the future.. I am not saying that it is always possible, and I am pleased that you are doing the best thing for your Mum.

sounds like a wonderful  idea and unfortunately yes many of us will end in somesort of care.

Wow! A heavy dose of reality. Many of us have been, or winessed, caregiving on an up-close and personal basis. It's ever-changing and a book or even a blog-style website, or both, could be a service to many. My best to you and your Mum. Scary stuff.
