One for my loved one

Daughter has departed for London; so (I think by now) has her father, for Sydney. I can relax. My son is relaxing too, with the ever-present Ipad which he bought to keep him entertained on the flight over here. Only two weeks till he, too, departs; we're just getting used to each other again now,... Sign in to see full entry.

and so to bed...

Well, something sunk in... she's in her own room, and their father is picking them up tomorrow. So I have my car. All I need to worry about now is that they are ready on time so that he doesn't come in to my home (I will be at church). It wouldn't be wise to outright forbid them letting him inside;... It's not working

More of the same this morning. Daughter has it in her head that I am less tolerant of her than of her brother. The fact that she has a) parked herself in my bed because it's colder in her room, and b) left her personal belongings in my bathroom and c) uses my shower rather than the family bathroom... Lively tonic water

I think I must have got a rogue bottle. I opened it in all innocence, and got a bath. Quickly reaching for a tea-towel, I brushed myself down and then wiped the floor. The dirt on my tea-towel was a little reminder to wash the floor again. I chose a flooring that wouldn't show the dirt and would be... Sign in to see full entry.

Not hmmph.

This post came out of responding to Naut's words about mutual respect between parents and children. It set me thinking, and I'm still wondering what is going on here. - Thank you Naut... I did try explaining that (though not quite in that way) - both thought I was being silly. Assurances that she... Sign in to see full entry.

Hmmph

Both kids are off to their grandpa's 99th birthday celebration tomorrow. This was the prompt behind my son's visit just now (with his father, the ex), albeit he wanted to see me later this year. It just makes me uncomfortable that his father is here too. Today they were gone for the afternoon and... Sign in to see full entry.

Two kids at home

This is rare. One, if you remember, lives in London, about an hour away by train. The other lives in Australia with his father. I had a million things to do this week, in preparation for my son's visit. It's been two years since his last one, and I wanted it all to be nice. (He thinks it looks... Sign in to see full entry.

So... is everything in the garden still lovely?

We've had a few ups and downs lately. Most of all, the disturbance to our generally happy relationship is my daughter's occasional visits and the aftermath when we resume togetherness after she's gone. For her last visit, a week ago, things were uncommonly tranquil. No cross words, no flying off the... Sign in to see full entry.

And what next?

I don't believe it. In my last post I mentioned someone I really, really don't want to ever think about again. Imagine my discomfort, then, this afternoon on looking at my emails. Not one, but two, from this person, albeit via a linked-in invitation. However, it did come directly from his email... Sign in to see full entry.

When does it go away?

It isn't easy going into a new relationship in your 60s -- not that I'm really in my 60's, having only just got there -- but you find there is a lot of garbage kicking around, even when you really, really care for the person you are with. I could throttle him this evening, for suddenly introducing a... Sign in to see full entry.
