A new year and new problems. My friend George has been admitted to Peterborough District Hospital. If it isn’t enough he has lung cancer, he never really recovered from an operation before Christmas, and on top of catching a sever cold, this morning he was in a poor state. So after the pantomime that now goes for ringing for an ambulance, we got a full paramedic Team out here. I now have the task of trying to find visiting hours, and actually getting there. I might sound ungrateful and selfish,... Sign in to see full entry.

Publishing! A POD site for Bloggers
Lulu.com Just found a wonderful site for ebooks on POD. Its called www.Lulu.com Up till now it seems Ok. Usual POD stuff, but they offer a huge amount of marketing services. The usual proof-reading services but what looks to me like real press release. If you have the money to throw at it all well and good. Steve UK Sign in to see full entry.

Tags
Tags After have had my first experience with a site asking for freelance work, I have mixed views on the subject. Sure, I think it can make money, but not with idiots like this. I was asked to write a brief piece on student loans. Now keep in mind that I’m on the other side of the Atlantic, so I had to make it up from articles I found on Google. But I put something together. I found out that the market is changing because the US government want to cut billions from the budget. Fine After putting... Sign in to see full entry.

A Good start? Freelancing
A Good start? Sent off dozens of inquiries with a mocked up CV today. I’m pinning all my hopes on the content of the web site to save me. www.tinwellbooks.co.uk That should speak for me. You get that feeling that no one is going to take any damn notice of all this hard work, but you have to try. Up till now, they are all for the US, so I will have to wing it, as far as content goes. But www.freelancewriting.com is the best site yet for work. Steve UK Sign in to see full entry.

Freelance writing markets
Hi, these are the two best sites I’ve found yet: http://216.239.59.104/search?q=cache:nIUZUVu0Y2oJ:p197.ezboard.com/fabsolutewritefrm30%3Fpage%3D2+volunteer+writer++%22articles+wanted%22&hl=en&ie=UTF-8 www.freelancewriting.com I ’ve put the URL for Absolutewriter straight as I’ve found it for a number of reasons. One, the bloody thing doesn’t work if you type it in straight. Don’t know why. But you just can’t get there. Two: you end up at another site which is handy, but not this one. I think... Just the Job
With the writing out of a huge list of jobs on offer, I now have to go through them one by one, to see if anyone is interested. Normally I would worry about this, but I have a bit of spin to put on this one. Faith is everything, but sometimes you have to bring out the big guns. The radio is horrible on a Saturday, so I started playing some old tapes. Got me interested in the Bearshare project again. It was cheap, but I got bogged down in it and left most of the software on the old computer. But... Sign in to see full entry.

More Freelance job sites.
I’ve added some more sites from my searching. I’m trying to put my notes alongside, as many of these sites are a waste of time. Why pay for a subscription when you can get the info for free? Currently compiling an even longer list, because if you follow many of these leads you can see they lead to other things. Tale a look at my site to see how its coming along: www.tinwellbooks.co.uk www.writewords.org www.furecen-job.com www.copyeditor.com www.writerswrite.com Free!!! Good site...
