Self Sufficient Church

Every church should have a financial manager, someone comptent in fiscal matters. For the first year or two, the church could collect gifts from its congregation, which would be prudently invested in a diversified portfolio. This, then, would provide the operating budget for the church, an operating... Sign in to see full entry.

A Children's Church

How about a church where adults listen to children tell us what they know of their god; this could perhaps be a monthly or quarterly service. After all, Children are often wiser about spiritual things and closer to divinity than we adults are. Sign in to see full entry.

Another ruse for fatter collection plates . . .

Why not have actors, or members of the congregation even, dress up and make themselves up as Biblical characters. These people could then be the ones to pass the plates about the congregation during collection tme in church. Can you imagine telling Christ, or even Moses, "No, I gave last week"? And... Imagery in Church

With the technology we have today, wouldn't it be great to set up a church so that the congregation would be surrounded by the cosmos, kind of alike an "all around" planetarium? You would be sitting in utter darkness with the cosmos lit up all around you, stars, galaxies and other scenes from space,... Sign in to see full entry.

A Short Side-Trip to Hell in a Handbasket:

An interesting series of comments to my last post in this blog regards the phrase, "Going to Hell in a Handbasket," so I thought I'd "Google" the phrase. Literary Church

With all the religious books being published, as fiction and as non-fiction, perhaps readers could form a literary church with the purpose of discussing such books during weekly services. It would be kind of like a religious book club. Guest speakers and authors could be invited to talk about or... Sign in to see full entry.

Reader's Church or Church of the Bookies . . . .

In the Church of the Bookies, the congregation could bring their favorite books dealing with things of the spirit, or living life, or related topics. There would be a period during the service, perhaps replacing the sermon, when each congregation member could read a bit from their book. There could... Sign in to see full entry.

A Carnival Church . . .

How about a roving church, much like the revivalists of the old west, the circuit rider preachers, etc.? Only these guys would be like a traveling circus or a carnival, complete with shows, animal exhibits, rides, midway games, and other vendors. The difference would be each ride and show would have...
