I think that incident is one of those moments in life that won't ever be forgotten. I don't think about it very often, or let is get me down--I've moved on from all that now. But the lessons learned are still with me, and I think the understanding has made me a better person in a lot of ways.

and third: that painful incident is clearly still fresh in your mind. I hope the understanding you've gained from it somehow makes up for some of the shock and pain of that family's hostile overreaction to an imagined slight.

Well said Sira. I read something similar a few months back and was so angry about it that I posted a blog about it instead of the usual shaking of my head. I think I deleted it, but I'll go and check just now. I like your comment about racism coming from people of any colour.

I've been attacked by a single blogger, and it happened only once. I publicly warned this person NEVER to read me again. Nor did I read them. It only takes a handful of bad apples to spoil the whole barrel.
