Kabu's comment on yesterday's Halloween story is exactly right

I did revise a chapter of my 922 Holyoake Road ghost story. I sharpened the conflict between George and Isabel, deleted some redundancies. The Missouri dept. of transportation planned to shut down a main drag

through downtown Friday night at six p.m. Something about necessary pre-winter maintenance. The problem: lots of out-of-town drivers were in St. Louis for World Series Game 7. Apparently this problem extends beyond the prison where Cool Hand Luke resisted the warden's cruelty. Some reported the "antique" phones in the dugout were part of the problem. One advantage to "old-timer's" memory shrinkage --

no re-runs on TV. Every "encore" program becomes all shiny and new. Bookstore to open in a few weeks I've been deprived and mistreated for the last few weeks, suffering withdrawal from my habit now that Borders closed. Pet Peeve of the month

The MJ / Conrad Murray trial is going on far, far too long. They proved the charges against him in one or two days -- negligence at a criminal level.
