Last Day of Day Treatment

This is the first hospitalization that Brenda has liked and benefitted from. She was very sick the other two times. This time she is just under par. So she appreciated the attention, the introspection and the information. She was able to make an informed decision on her medication. She has enjoyed... Sign in to see full entry.

Wallowing in Misery

Brenda never takes any suggestions. Maybe she get this trait from her mother. I don't like to be told. Is reason that I can't do what others tell me to do because i have to be in the right mood and i know myself better than anyone else. I don't know what Brenda thinks but she rejects absolutely... A new Brenda

The doctor prescribed her an addition dose of Xyprexa to go along with the Respirdal. He thought that the two together would prevent her from gaining weight but would clear her mind of the psychosis. I don't know yet about her appetite, but already she is better. Xyprexa is like that. It has... Sign in to see full entry.

Tuesday, My daughter will go to day treatment.

She won't like it, but she will go. I told her that if she wants to go to school, she needs to go, participate and do what they tell her to do. She doesn't understand how sick she is, but hopefully she can get a medication that works better. Right now she rejects all of the doctors suggestions,... Sign in to see full entry.

Progress

The insurance company pulled through. Brenda has an appointment for day treatment today. They will interview her to see if she would be a fit for either the day treatment or for being in the inpatient unit for the daytime. She would be in the program for two weeks. Now it all depends on Brenda. She... Sign in to see full entry.

After breakfast

we went back to the hotel, finished packing and slept until eleven thirty, we left fifteen minutes before checkout time. But we had the energy to go to the train station, drop off my luggage and go to the Science center to watch an Omnimax movie. It was all right but the colors were dreary and... Life goes on

even if you are dealing with someone who is psychotic. We went on a vacation together. It was supposed to be her sister's vacation, but she couldn't find her passport or her birth certificate so she couldn't cross the Canadian border. So she missed her vacation. It wasn't the most successful... Sign in to see full entry.

Not Alone

I knew that I had to call the managed care back and find another doctor, when the managed care clinical case manager called. She suggested that Brenda might need day treatment, partial hospitalization or intensive outpatient. These are options that I didn't consider. I have been thinking in terms of... Let me Bore You to Death

Most people get burned out by listening to me talking about my daughters' illness, so i usually don't talk much about it. I appreciate all of the interest and comments that I've been getting, but i know that interest is dying out. It would be good if I could get her on social security, find her a... Things must change.

We cannot continue to live with someone who is paranoid, who says we are acting and that we aren't really her parents. This is unbearable both for her and us. She is always upset and it is very hard on us. In the past, they had group homes and continuing care homes for those who were unable to live... Sign in to see full entry.
