The Solution

For those recovering from drug and alcohol addiction, there are wonderful resources. Probably not enough, but good ones. First of all there is treatment. In addition to the hospital, there is intensive outpatient followed by weekly groups and ending with monthly groups. Depending on the insurance,... Sign in to see full entry.

Too much!

I cannot deal with both daughters at the same time. Especially when both of them are sick. Brenda is better but she is unwilling to do anything by herself. Her sister is not manic but she is odd and her thinking is off. I have no idea what is going on with her. I have a back ache but can't get the... Sign in to see full entry.

If its not one its the other.

Brenda worries because she feels so happy, she fears mania. She doesn't show any signs of mania, except that she paces. However, i think Brenda paces the way a caged animal paces. She wants to be moving all the time. She plans to move in with her friend and go to school at the community college and... Sign in to see full entry.

Brenda is better.

She is smiling and stays awake longer. The pain in her abdomen is better. She will be released soon and have surgery a week later. Mentally I think she is better. We'll see. Sign in to see full entry.

New Things

Most of the time only one of my daughters experiences a major problem. Today, they both suffer. Kelly's housemates talk about her behind her back and find her to be odd. They told the resident advisor a whole litany of Kelly's faults. Brenda woke up ill again this morning. I took her to the doctor... Sign in to see full entry.

Recovery and my daughters

Every time, my daughters come out of their psychosis, they have similar feelings and stages. They sleep a lot, they feel lonely depressed, and ashamed. They remember what they did while they were psychotic and are embarrassed. Britta did very well in the hospital but had nothing to do when she got... Sign in to see full entry.

Recovery

When we recover from mental illness, physical illness and addiction, we go through similar stages and have similar issues. We experience guilt, shame and remorse. Even with physical illness which is not our fault, we feel guilty about what we didn't do during our illness, ashamed at the change in... Sign in to see full entry.
