A Tree Grows in Brooklyn

So much has happened lately, I don't know where to start. My grandmother passed away last week; the funeral was yesterday, so I flew out to Pittsburgh for that. It was really sad, but great at the same time, because everybody was there--all the family, and many of her friends, even people she hadn't seen in years. In the morning, there was a brunch, then an interrment ceremony for the family only, then a memorial service in the afternoon. Its amazing, but my grandfather has been holding up... Like most normal women, I hate going to the gynecologist; but this time, I really, really needed to get in there for a general checkup (it's almost embarrassing when the last time was that I went to see someone). Also, I wanted to talk to the doctor about birth control. I know I'm kind of jumping the gun a little bit; C and I have only slept together once. On Wednesday I had a very long conversation with C, who then suggested that he come into the city on Thursday night to hang out. He can't do weekends because he's traveling for work on the weekends for the next few weeks. Anyways, he called me at around 5 on Thursday, at which time I was on the subway home. I called him back when I got off the train, by which time he was going through the Holland Tunnel. Turns out, he'd left work early, specifically to come see me. We ended up going to a pizza... I'd fogotten how long it had been since I'd written. I've been extremely busy: this weekend I went to Philly. My sister was there, though my parents didn't arrive home until Snday afternoon from spending the weekend in Chicago with some friends. Today is my mom's birthday, and yesterday we all went out to brunch to celebrate. I ended up getting a skirt for her; my sister gave her a book on the painter Caillebotte, who she's into right now. God, its hot out. And we don't have AC in our apartment! Today I signed my lease with my landlord and my new roommate. I'm all set to go for another year. It's good to get that kind of stuff out of the way. My landlord owns a motorcycle racing team. He has his office in the workshop where his team keeps their motorcycles.
