The program, which I mentioned in a previous post, sends free books to reviewers, who then write reviews for Amazon which appear early on the product page. Vine "Voices" are chosen from the top reviewers on the site. Amazon sends out a "monthly newsletter," consisted of new books, CDs, etc. sponsored by various publishers. It was kind of disappointing, because they only had about seven products open for review this month, even though the tagline of the program is, "all the hottest products... Sign in to see full entry.

So I had my job interview at that literary agency...
And I think it went well. We didn't have a very long conversation, but she seemed to be pretty impressed with my experience. She needs someone only part time, to do data entry and so on and so forth; but I don't really mind because the rest of the time I can do temp work. Her agency does mostly nonfiction, and not really a lot of stuff I've eard of; when I went to look the agency up online, I couldn't find much. She doesn't have a website, mostly because she doesn't want a whole lot of... Sign in to see full entry.

Job interviews lined up
Already, and its only Tuesday. The first is for a part-time gig at a literary agency on the UES, doing data entry about 20 hours a week at $20. The second is on Friday afternoon at another literary agency that deals in children's books. The second is a full-time assistant position; they asked what my requirements were, I told them, and they called within a fews hours to set up an appointment. So we'll see how all this goes. Meanwhile, today I had a job interview at Anthropologie--I love their... Sign in to see full entry.

Happy Monday
So I've got two weeks off from work as the office goes through its renovations--painting, replacement of the floors, etc. My goal is to send out resumes to as many literary agencies as I possibly can--they may not be hiring, but maybe I'll get an informational interview out of the e-mailing. The world of publishing is very small, and someone is bound to know one or both of the agencies I've worked at. I've I've been doing a lot of research today on those agencies that are in New York, and I've... Sign in to see full entry.

Random things
So a few days ago, I received an invitation to join Amazon Vine, a new program that Amazon is sponsoring that allows top reviewers the chance to write reviews on books that haven't yet been released. The program is by-invite only, and reviewers can order and are sent ARCs of various books or pre-releases of books or movies. It seems like a win-win situation, so I've signed up and there are quite a few books that I think I'm going to order. Free books, what could be better? It seems like a... Sign in to see full entry.
