A Tree Grows in Brooklyn

This post was inspired by that of someone I read recently, who says she talks about blogit with her therapist, who even comes on here to see what's going on. Personally, I'd have a hard time telling people I actually know that I belong here. Somehow it seems safer talking about my life with total strangers I've never met than people I've known for years and years. Well, I wasn't exactly fired; it's a temporary job. I guess I should have seen it coming; I was making sloppy mistakes in this proofreading job I've just been on. I guess I should tell you more about the situation. The guy I was working for had recently completed his doctoral thesis through King's College, London, and wants help editing. Don't you hate when, whenever you go into a store or restaurant, there's that one person who is rude and obnoxious to everyone? I'm in Kinko's right now, and there's a woman like that. She's in the cell next to me on her cell phone yelling so loudly and being extremely rude to the person on the other end--who I gather from the conversation, is a service person. I'm addicted to TV. However, for the past three months I haven't had access--when I lived at NYU my parents told me to go out and enjoy the city, rather than sit around on my duff; and now that I live in Brooklyn, R and I don't have cable. We can't afford it, and most of the time we just don't have time. However, occasionally, we'll go out to other people's places and watch--or, if we like a TV show enough, we'll watch it on DVD. I don't have very much to write (or much time, either), but I just wanted to drop a line today. I'm going to be very busy--I have that doctoral thesis editing thing going on, and this morning my temporary boss wants me to go to the New York Public Library to photocopy some information out of a few books.
