Dressing like sluts for Halloween

Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year. As I got to college and beyond, it's become more and more, shall I say, entertaining. One of the things I've been seeing among people my own age is the onset of "sexy costumes." ie, girls will don lingerie and bunny ears and call that a costume! And it's not happening just recently to people my own age; we've been doing it since we were adolescents. And it's not just thin girls who dress this way; it's the overweight ones who definitely should... Sign in to see full entry.

An example of perpetutating a superstition?

There's an animal shelter in Idaho that isn't doing black cat adoptions until after November 2nd. They're not the only ones doing this. Their rationale is that they're trying to prevent pranks from occurring to those cats-- "or worse, mistreated in some satanic ritual." (according to the article I read). I lied about my age to make myself seem younger!

After lazing around pretty much all day on Friday, I went to see a band called Carbon Leaf, at Irving Plaza. Absolutely awesome concert. The band is out of Richmond, VA and I got into them when I was in college and they were still just doing gigs in Virginia. They're come a long way since then. So the concert was awesome. "Nose hairs no more"

This was the lead for an ad that greeted me as I logged on to amazon.com. Yup--right there on the home page was an ad for nose hair trimmers, the Remington NEDH-2500 Titanuim Dual Head Nose And Ear Trimmer. "Shop for yourself or get a head start on the holidays," the ad says. I can imagine the recipient of such a gift: "Oh, great, I've got a hairy nose! Thanks!" Gotta love Amazon.com! A visit from my dad, a job interview, and Central Park ramblings

My dad was in town yesterday evening--just to visit, like he does every week, mid-week. He retired from Accenture about four years ago and now gives counseling to people who are looking for jobs--mostly upper-level people; and, because I'm his daughter, me as well. We went to dinner at a local place that has wonderful lasagna. He gave me some more advice on places to look for jobs as well as advice on how to conduct myself in the interview I had this morning....Which leads me to the interview... Sign in to see full entry.
