I had a professor in college who was a great inspiration to me. She was a woman in her late 40s, never married, but she had an absolutely brilliant mind. She taught history, but she'd earned her Bachelor's degree in classics and she had a JD degree as well as a PhD in medieval history. He specialty was church law, but she taught medieval and early modern history, as well as some classical history. I probably won't be on tomorrow--or, at least not posting. So I'm wishing you all a happy Thanksgiving today and hoping ou all have safe travels to wherever you're going to be. As I write this I'm sitting at a borrowed computer at my parents house, stealing a few moments for myself before the madness begins. I arrived last night by train into Philadelphia.
