I just woke up and read the Alexander Solzhenitsyn had died. I was surprised asI thought he had passed on a long time ago. But, in my book of saying, I came across one - written by him - that I would like to share with you: Not everything has a name. Some things lead us into a realm beyond words. In... Wallets and bags, old and new
Yesterday, I traded in an old wallet for new. My niece Nomita, gave me a wallet when she returned after finishing her studies in the US. She got a bright pink for my sister Roma, and a black one for me. It was something that I liked, in principle, but was more accustomed to a different style of... Sign in to see full entry.

August of Poppies
For the month of August, a beautiful red poppy looks out at me, from my desk calendar to the left of me. I am thrilled, as I love this painting of Georgia O'Keefe called Poppy, an oil on canvas, done in 1927. I also adore poppies. I love their colous, their wildness, their tender green stock and the... What the eye sees, the mind absorbs
Yesterday, I waited for my friend Gautam to join me for a walk. I had a long day at my clinic - two difficult patients. The weather was very, very sultry (almost 100% humidity). The walk was Gautam's idea. He lives across from a sports complex, where every kind of activity possible happens. I parked... Sign in to see full entry.

Breathtaking Skylines
Yesterday, around 7 PM, I was getting ready to have a shower when I looked out of the window and saw this breathtaking view. I took out my camera and took these two photographs form my bedroom window. The first photo stars the multistory apartments that came up about two years after we moved here.... The Holy Cow
Almost anyone who lives in India or has visited India has seen cows, and not only in their natural habitat (whatever that is). In Delhi, and other cities, there are cows on the streets, completely at home, among moving and stationery, animate and inanimate objects. Visitors to the city often ask me... Intellectual stimulation - buzzzzzzzzzzzz
All of a sudden, I am tremendously intellectually stimulated. I have been asked to bid for a publication that will require two months of travel within India (that is exciting!). I like the whole process of concept of a publication, rolling out its contents, visualising and organising photographs,... Sign in to see full entry.

Saturday Lunch and Celebrations
Yesterday, we had a rather good Saturday lunch. On Friday, my friend Sheela called to say Madhavan, her husband, was in town and would we come for lunch on Saturday? Oh yes, I said. After a very relaxed morning, Mahesh and I left home at 12.30. It normally takes us one hour to get there (they live... Sign in to see full entry.

Randy Pausch, in memory
As I was talking about and reading Randy Pausch's The Last Lecture yesterday, he died. I had looked at his book several times in the book shop before I finally bought it, two weeks ago. I have read only 67 pages before I woke up this morning, switched on my computer and when my Google home page came... Sign in to see full entry.

I am my cheerleader
On Tuesday I was to facilitate an all-day workshop. I woke up feeling rather slow. I slept well, but only 6 hours. The morning was humid. I went through my morning ablutions thinking: how am I going to make it through the day feeling like this? My throat hurt and my body was a little stiff. Then, I... Sign in to see full entry.
