Here's another item out of my Tolkienesque archives. The prompt was to write a conversation between two characters in a particular setting in Tolkien's Middle-earth. My chosen challenge was to set an elf and a dwarf in front of the newly-made Doors of Durin, the entry to Khazad Dum in the early days... Sign in to see full entry.

namesake
I looked it up because I have heard it used to mean who one is named after, or who is named after one. Turns out, it is both, and merely means those who share a name. So... as I was saying to Pat earlier, when some massive electrical event takes out all the electrical power on the planet, I will no... Sign in to see full entry.

Ghost Light
It's a theater term. It refers to a certain theater convention, like never speaking the name MACBETH in a theater--unless in a production of the play. It is always called, The Scottish Play. When a theater is closed for the night and everyone has gone home, there is always one small light left on;... Sign in to see full entry.

Years ago, I thought Blogit could use a space for serious writing, workshopping, editing, and critiquing. But I was wrong. A few here are serious intentional writers, but there are also those who write for social reasons and connections. I wouldn't discourage them from writing, but I am sorry Blogit... I never read the book, because the title alone was epiphanaceous enough to send me on a philosophic, spiritual jaunt, to get me thinking about things I'd never really thought about before. The book: BEHAVING AS IF THE GOD IN ALL... Sign in to see full entry.

Where I'm From
The scent of eucalyptus... the Campanile, it's urn-shaped balusters a head could get stuck between, we were warned... Aunt Shirley's little car that squawked on San Francisco hills... Driving across the country, the U-haul close on our tail... watching it, owning it... Picnicking in the shadow of... Sign in to see full entry.

I'm going to do this, though it may take some time...
A few days ago, Pat wrote a post about her writing group that offers one of the best prompts ever! http://www.blogit.com/Blogs/Blog.aspx/Pat_B/888355 So... here, I offer that prompt again: Go read Pat's piece, if you haven't seen it already, and then create in verse--open, free, whatever form you...
