My Zoo would also be spread over wide, wild-like lands, huge contained areas with overhead contained and covered walkways with viewing platforms in all the best vantage spots. The levels of the walkways and platforms would vary depending on the animals in the enclosures.
There would be electric 'golf cart' type transport between areas and around perimeters and maybe cable-cars for visitors who are not walkers.
Each enclosure would feature several compatible species who'd be likely to share a habitat in the wild. My Zoo would provide safety from predators, vet care and balanced natural-to-the-species diet. It would be a sanctuary especially for endangered species and would have a breeding program to preserve critically endangered species.
There would be an Interaction area for people to meet particular species that are not unduly stressed by human contact. Orphaned and disabled animals might be there, but prolonged and friendly human contact may make them unfit for return to the wild where human poachers and hunters are a hazard, so these would be individuals who will, for any reason, never be 'repatriated.'

a big question to put into a comment.
My Zoo would be thousands of acres of natural bushland. The animals indigenous to the country. Not really a Zoo at all, most of it, but an area where flora and fauna win and lose their fight for survival in the normal way without human intervention. Or with very little. Animals could be watched for a price via a non interferring Zone Cinema.
At the front of this land space would be a petting Zoo for children. lambs, baby pigs, horses and calves; chickens and injured birds no longer able to live in the wild.That sort of thing. A paying zoo.
Next to this I would have an endangered species zoo. Probably again indigenous to where I lived. Animals that are bred and released, again a paying Zoo.
Beside that would be a theatre where human Circus acts were performed, perhaps concerts, dance all sorts of theatre to keep people coming back. Another paying project.
