Lots of storms throughout the country....I got caught in one and well let's just say it was something I don't care to do again

My brother's home was flooded with a landslide of mud which came down a "bald" mountainside that had been burned in a wildfire. They had 4 feet of mud in their home. It had to be mostly rebuilt, was uninhabitable for 6 months, and many family heirlooms were lost or destroyed.

Seems to me the rains are heavier, more frequent these days than
they were a decade ago, but in '93 we had a 500-year flood on the Mississippi that put it nine feet above the river road between Alton and Pere Marquette Park (30 miles north) and swamped the water and sewer plants that served several cities around Alton. The high water lasted from April to October - I remember the duration because I retired in October and had wanted to take one last drive up the river road before I left for Seattle.
