The sun is shining through hazy sky, and temps will be in the upper 70s They say. Pixiechops is cuddlesome alternating with zoomies and climbies. She does like to go up! The cat tree is getting good use from bottom to top, and every upper surface, pre-occupied or not, is being explored. Sometimes, though, she reclines quietly and stares at the birds. She also likes to check out... anything. This is how my plate of scrambled eggs this morning ended up in my purse which was set on the floor beside... Sign in to see full entry.

Caturday report
The wee Pixie is doing well, finding lots of fun things to do, and fun things to play with. Today, after my trip to the pet store where my friend shared her employee discount with me, she has a nice dusty purple collar with a little silver bell, a fur-gathering grooming mit, and her very own nail clipper. Talk about Murder Mittens, this gal had, until a few minutes ago, the finest, sharpest claws ever! Charlie held her while I clipped, and now she and I can be better friends! She wants to play... Kementari Pixiechops!
First of all, if she is ever Kementari, Queen of Earth, it isn't who she is now, at a mischievous, hyper-inquisitive 2yr old with less-than-perfectly-controlled murder-mittens! She will hereafter and for a while be known as Pixiechops, which is, by the way, a name my elder daughter gave herself when she was 5 or 6. So now that's settled! When I set her cardboard carrier--courtesy of the Humane Society--on my bed and opened it, she sat up very straight and peered all around, then abandoned it to... Sign in to see full entry.

Thursday is Cat'sday
The high winds have relented, temps are rising to the 60s today, the doc appt has been rescheduled, and prep for bringing home Kemmie Cat is on-going. Plants will go outside, some of them, for the next 5 days before cold returns, while I observe whether this kitty is a plant-eater. Food and water are in place up on the cat tree, placed to discourage any explorations onto the slightly unsteady shelves beside the tree. Doom-boxes are being filled in my room and small breakables are being set in... Sign in to see full entry.

Winds-day!
Up early this morning, just before 6am. Seems like my regular sleep is ~5 hours, unassisted. The benefit of such early rising is the brilliance of Venus in the southern sky, on a morning as clear as this. Now, at 6:30, the sky is growing pale, and Venus is not quite as bright. High wind warnings are in effect again, from 10am-5pm today. Speaking of weather and weather reports, since I signed up for a VPN with my laptop security, I am not getting my own weather automatically displayed on Chrome.... Sign in to see full entry.

Uh-oh...
I've been weakening recently, and this week the balance tipped: On Thursday I will be collecting my next cat from the Pueblo branch of the Pike's Peak Humane Society. They called her Snowball, but I will call her Kemmie-Cat for daily use, and Kementari for fancy use. It's an Elvish name from Middle-earth that means Queen of the Earth, the name of one of the Powers of Arda... In more biblical terminology, they would translate as the Angelic Powers who watch over the world. Of course, all female... Sign in to see full entry.

Gale Forces!
Today we are waking to winds in the treetops and everywhere between! The forecast warns to expect 20-40 mph with possible 60mph gusts. This is expected to last 2-3 days. There was a time during my first visit to NZ when the wind blew steadily and strongly around my daughter and son-in-law's house northwest of Wellington for a week, until it developed, to my mind, almost a personality, a force of will. NZ is noted for the winds that make plane flights, especially landings, something of a... Sign in to see full entry.

After the meet-up
Charlie's appointment was with the three other people setting up a return of the improv theater thing that he was part of before covid. There have been many changes, a 'purge' of the old board that ran the Theatre D'Art so that now there are only three people on it. These three have brought about a change from that post-college-grad people having fun with theater, to a more mature, professional mindset. One element of that is the attitude shift from "We just want to play with theater" to "We are... Sign in to see full entry.
New Things
Charlie needed a new bathroom scale, so we went by Target. I remembered that my plug-in hot water kettle is on its last legs, so I took the time to look at the options. I found one I liked, not too expensive, and see-through like the old one. Then I looked at air fryers. Came home with one suitable for someone who mostly cooks for just myself. It isn't much bigger than the toaster oven, which I've passed along to Charlie whose toaster is on its way out. I also ended up with new plastic cutting... Sign in to see full entry.

Thursday is Winterday today
And here we are, under a fluffy-looking but heavy blanket of 3-4 inches of snow this morning, and it's still coming down in a casual, careless, possibly confused way. It may last a day or so, but by weekend, temps will be well above freezing, so it will be gone. I've changed more clocks, the ones I see from my comfy chair are now agreeing with the computer clock. My body, however, is not convinced. Charlie has started Noom this past week or so, and seems to be both enjoying the routine of... Sign in to see full entry.
