Noises Off

Enjoying 2nd Morning here, after waking at 6, having 1st Meds and 1st Breakfast, and going back to bed. It's bright and sunny out, with temps maybe reaching for 40 this afternoon. I h ave some going out plans in a little while. My brain and mind seem settled back in place since the other day's fuguey goings-on. Pixie has been cuddlier the past couple of days. She also has been doing a new thing, new for her, at least: playing in a paper bag. I know it's a common cat thing, but she's never taken... Sign in to see full entry.

long, weird day...

For some reason, possibly jet lag, today was just weird. Not the day itself, but the way I experienced it. I started with some time on my game--Lord of the Rings Online--though I was not entirely in the mood for it. It was just something I had planned to do, so I fired it up, and ran my 'toon around for a while, crafting and questing. I had to fill in some holes in my larder, Charlie needed to visit all 3 Arc thrift stores looking for props for his latest paid assignment (Little Shop of... Sign in to see full entry.

COSINE and breathing

Well, it turns out... someone explained this to me yesterday--when you go from a mile high to sea level, it takes 2 days to lose all those extra high-altitude blood platelets, but returning to the mountains, 2 weeks to recover them. Those are the little magic bits that make breathing better at altitude. So there's that. I was still feeling so exhausted over the weekend as Charlie and I attended the local COSINE event, and that's where someone suggested the platelets thing could be part of it.... Returning to normalcy

Travel used to be easier. Now, it throws off all my meds routines and sleep cycles, and when I get home, I have to reset everything. Seems the first couple of days anywhere is recovery from the travel itself. So today, after a good night's sleep and beginning to get back into sync with the familiar--feeling kinda meh. In the next day or two all the few photos of this past week will be processed and posted. Later when I feel more like writing, I'll be back with some of the adventures of the past... Ready, set, FLY!

Nearly ready, and already tired... travel is not as much fun as it used to be! It's great that I don't have to lug my own luggage: Charlie will see me off at the airport, and wrangle the two bags for checking. My carry-on is going to be heavy, too, as this machine will be in it. I can no longer walk the length of even our small airport, what with lower back and hip issues, but somehow that box didn't get ticked when I paid for my ride, the one that says 'special assistance needed.' So that will... Sign in to see full entry.

Ready, set...

Still packing, still sorting out the house for this weekend when Eunice comes down from her mountains to hang out with Pixiechops. The guest room needed significant sorting: the bed under the window was too cold even with it closed tight. So the bed is now against a wall--which required clearing that wall of a lot of photo stuff and other miscellany. And the wall now behind the head of the bed had to have photos re-hung as it would not be able to happen easily after the bed was in place. So the... Sign in to see full entry.

New movie: AVATAR: The Way of Water

We made it to the movie--a place with its fancy pants on, that offers seat-side food service, so I went hungry. But left hangry, because the server never even noticed I was there! But the movie was colorful and pleasing to the senses a good part of the time. It's modern kind of blended live-action/animation, very smooth with the special effects changing the look of the actors to blue-skinned aliens. Well, not aliens as they are on their own planet. The theme continues over from the first AVATAR... Sign in to see full entry.

Time to get packing!

Flaming skies to start the day, and cold, cold out there, temps in the teens. Time and its funny ways... I realized suddenly that I fly out to Seattle next Tuesday to spend a week with the family there, and I've barely begun to think about what to shove in the little suitcase! WI'm flying on Southwest Airlines... Hoping that they have sorted out their holiday disasters which, it seems, had more to do with an obsolete computer system than the people who work the flights. Seems the CEO and COO,... Sign in to see full entry.

It's working!

Waking to snow again, just a few inches on the back porch rail. Temperatures today will range from high 20s to low 30s F, so that's not too bad. I have started taking a couple of new supplements for my diabetes. For a few weeks now I've added berberine to my daily doses. It works well for many people for lowering blood sugar numbers significantly, and can bring down the three-monthly average, the A1C blood test, down considerably. Side effects are minimal, generally, and the effective dosage is... Sign in to see full entry.

The Day After

The sky is growing pale as morning creeps in. The house is warming up after the chill of night. I've had a breakfast of eggs scrambled with the last crab cake, and am enjoying a cup of coffee. Good chance after that, I'll be going back to bed for a while. The kitchen and dining room, even the living room are pretty much recovered from yesterday's Christmas cheer. It was a good and satisfying day, though the menu we imagined in the days before did not quite entirely materialize. That's fine, we... Sign in to see full entry.
