The Golden Hour, Wednesday

It has cooled down after another hot day in the mid-90s. I was going to say 'very hot' and then reconsidered, thinking of how hot it has been--well into the hundreds! in a number of other places. This area often gets it easier. The a/c at the workshop has been repaired: a blocked line caused the leak, and there was an electrical issue which was spotted and also fixed. The ceiling may be just left as is, which is okay as long as nothing falls down. Such heat as we have is still too much for me.... Sign in to see full entry.

Starting the week

Here's Monday again... I have a doctor appt to review how the various meds are working, and Charlie has to meet someone at the workshop--'the guy who looks at the yellow box.' The yellow box is where electrical connections come into the building. I have no idea what he looks for, other than that it isn't obstructed. It isn't. There is another problem, though. Charlie left the a/c going overnight on Thursday, and the collected humidity overflowed whatever is supposed to catch it, and water was... Sign in to see full entry.

Thursday busies

This morning started annoyinly at 4am when itching woke me up. Seems a skeeter visited and feasted in the night, leaving several calling cards. It was unignorable, even at 4 am: turned on a light, stumbled out to the living room where anti-itch lotion had last been seen, and then to the bathroom to swallow an allergy pill. The antihistimine is the best thing to kill such itches! Getting back to sleep is often a problem, so I picked up my book to read until sleep slipped in. I woke up again at... Road trip healing

Here it is, Saturday, and Charlie is up at Fan Expo this weekend. We drove up yesterday, spent a couple of hours at the Denver Aquarium (pictures link in my first in a long time Adventuring blog) and then I dropped him off at the hostel he is staying at. It almost didn't happen, the driving adventure. I was feeling poorly and kinda stuck in an state of apathy so he had planned to take the inter-cities bus--called Bustang! that takes people all over the state for very fair fares. But I took some... So, what's Jugger?

It's cool and clear this morning at 8am, but the forecast says we're headed for 90F this afternoon. Definitely an a/c day! Yesterday's adventure had a fair amount of sitting in the sun, and I have the pink to show it. Most of the time most of me was under shade, but one arm and one sandaled foot clearly were not. It was fun finally watching a jugger tournament, seeing how it plays out. There iwis an object, traditionally a dog's skull but here it's something more or less that size and shape,... Sunday adventure

Charlie's jugger tournament was cancelled due to lightning on the field being a real possibility a couple of weeks ago, a real jugger-not. It is happening under clear sunny skies today, with temps expected in the 80s in Aurora CO. So I am up early, getting my Wordle and other games out of the way to jumpstart my brain and maintain my winning streak. Just a brief note today, before having breakfast and getting out the door. At the end of the day...

Sitting at home now after an afternoon at the shop... Sun owns the sky for another hour and a half, but the heavy clouds don't care. We are warned of further severe weather this evening, from around now until midnight. So far, though, the clouds are not making any threatening moves or drama. Lately I have been surrounded here in the living room with just too much yarn. Besides the lovely feel of quality merino wool, of soft, soft bamboo rayon, even acrylics that are so much nicer than they used... Sign in to see full entry.

After the storm

The air is so clear this morning, between here and the mountains, after last night's storm. Since I posted the photos I got from the northeast of Colorado Springs, I've seen on Facebook several more from other angles.The one from Woodland Park, a town west of here along Hwy 24, is most impressive, showing the whole massive thing! The year I drove Charlie to his first term at UCCS, from I-70 coming out of Glennwood Springs we began to see a cloud over the top of the canyon. As we drove on, that... Sign in to see full entry.

a dark and stormy night...

Hot today, but not bad at the workshop: It has a very high ceiling! Driving home we could see some mighty impressive clouds building out east over the plains, and right now a huge one is filling the sky to the south of us. Forecast here is for a thunderstorm some time tonight, but there are no clouds at alMaybel over the mountains where they usually approach from. What, it's only MONDAY??

It has been hot this afternoon, not my favorite atmosphere but it's coming up on 8pm, the sun has dropped behind the mountains, and I've made it through the day without misery taking hold. We've entered the season of early evening showers--not the weather, but washing off the sweat and the last of the heat. It has to come late enough for the sun to be down, but early enough that my hair will dry before I lay down for sleep, to wake up with it going in sixteen different directions! The day...
