Word is...

IF the half-house is actually available, not already promised elsewhere, I can swing it, and still actually eat, too. Not much else until some other things begin to pay off, but for the re-energizing effect of having a real home of my own again, I can live with the rest. In Olympia again now, looking at the household goods and such, determining what needs to go, what to stay. The house, a near-30 year old mobile home is... in a word, appalling. But after over a year away, I can now see what... Sign in to see full entry.

Wow! Can it be? A place of my own??

The renter in the other half of my son's duplex just told me he is moving out, family and dog and fights and parties and all! That is good news to start with. But... better still, if I can put together the money to grab it up myself, by Feb 1st. Charlie gets his living room back, I get some privacy back... I don't have to deal with housemates who don't have the concept of the community kitchen, or keeping a bathroom clean. I get a place to hold my writing workshops, and to hang my gallery of... When I see...

a bird house in a tree, I think of Kabu... a trail through the woods, or a bench in the park, I think of TAPS... a ship, any size, in a harbor or on the water, I think of Nautikos... Flowers, it's CCT I think of. A little piece of loveliness, like God's winking at me, it's Adnohr... A bustling bookstore with a coffee shop, PatB. The list could go on... The point is, when I am out there in the world, with camera to hand or notebook or not, all of you are with me on my walk, and when I snap a... Sign in to see full entry.

Finished a hat this morning... a pretty sparkly yarn of sea-blues, greens and grey. It's a sort of loose beret that fits close around the forehead, while the back part can be dragged to one side or to the back, or even to the front, to look something like a motoring cap. I sell such hats now and then, and if I don't, I wear them. Then, yesterday's dog park photos went up on Flickr, and that took a while! Breakfast was eggs and turkey on a croissant, and coffee. More things to do, birthday... Sign in to see full entry.

Thanks to everyone who has been stopping by

Pink and Blue!

http://flic.kr/ps/rhS1C Well, I had this little fish bowl, and it was empty, and then, there was the pet store sitting there, and they get new ones in every week or so. And I never had one this color before. Sign in to see full entry.

Yes, yes... another fish.

Today I adopted another betta, another classic veil tail, this one predominantly reds, as you can see. Well, some of the shots are more 'artsy' than others, because I am not that adept with getting this camera to focus close in, despite it's many menu items that attempt to provide for whatever image a photographer might want to take. So... call it very soft focus, on some shots. I have included some that give an idea what a betta looks like in motion, moving and flowing with and against the... Sign in to see full entry.

Quiet Saturday

It has been quiet all day, mostly. The neighbors are at peace, for once. Charlie is out helping a friend load a U-Haul truck, take it three blocks, and unload it. It turned into a writing day, when I woke this morning with some elements of a dream that stayed with me. It doesn't happen often, that such a waking happens, that leaves me something that I'm thinking, "There's a story here!" Still less often, that the fragments don't shrivel to nothing in the light of consciousness. This one--has... Sign in to see full entry.

LES MISERABLES

In one word-- Fantastic! In two words-- Take tissue. No spoilers here... It is not one to mention that Colm Wilkinson who has starred as Jean Valjean in the past, and who sang that role in the Tenth Anniversary concert, has another in this movie version: the bishop who saves Jean Valjean from himself, early in the story. Of course, one of the great advantages of making a movie of a play is that we are not confined to a single stage with moveable sets. "Les Mis" takes full advantage, creates a... Ah. Christmas!

We had a quiet, happy day that started with Charlie coming out of his room, looking at the spread under the tree, and saying, "All those presents under the tree are really starting to piss me off. We should do something about it." So, we did. Not too much later, he made crepes for breakfast, and they were lovely! He always uses lemon juice and powedered sugar on his. I used the remains of the mulled cider we made the night before, and allowed to boil down to syrup. Apple cider with lemon, lime... Sign in to see full entry.
