My daughter in the Seattle area and her husband have put in an offer on a house, now that one of the two they owned in the UK has sold. Since she first moved in with him back around 2001, I think, they have lived in six different homes. Every one has been Rather Nice, or at least Very Interesting. Several older houses they moved into with the intent of staying long enough to change some things, to rennovate and improve. So far, though, they have not stayed long enough in any of them for those... Sign in to see full entry.

Gardens in the morning
Yesterday and the day before I watched a British series about gardens: A well-known professional gardener helping people design and create new gardens around their homes. So not suprising that I dreamed of gardens, and had one in my head that begged to be drawn out when I woke, before it got away. So that happened this morning. During the drawing session, there was a THUMP! on my glass door beside the bed. I got up and opened the curtain... No one on the deck, but a definite pigeon-print on the... Sign in to see full entry.

Another lovely spring day
This year it has been alternating winter/spring all through January, February and March so far. The doves are making moves on the nest that sits on the light fixture on my deck--well out of the winds and precip, whatever it is, though the nosy neighbor leaves something to be desired. If they do raise a couple more chicks, I will again have to arrange the deck for the day they leave the nest. Last year, the time came that they were about ready to leave, but that very day the winds were so strong... Sign in to see full entry.

Weekend Shenanigans
This past weekend was another pop-culture convention: WhimsyCon! Sounds like fun, doesn't it? It is mainly Steampunk and other fantasy themed, with folk strolling around in costume and attending entertainment, creative, and educational sessions. There was a vendors hall and a small art show/auction--my favorite part! I always try to get to the shows where the potter Peri Charlifu has his work on display and on auction. I have won a number of such auctions, and have a fine and growing collection... Sign in to see full entry.

Milo, more...
Milo really enjoys car travel, sitting up in the front, gazing out at the world. He sits on Charlie's lap or beside him,and when he gets tired of the view, he lies down with his head on my knee and has a little snooze. The other day we had some errands to run, and took Milo along. These pictures are of when Charlie got out to go into a building, then came back after around 10 minutes. https://flic.kr/p/224DAY3 (click left from here) Today we are driving up to Denver for another fan convention,... Had a little haircut, short and smart...
Back before Christmas I went to a fund-raiser for a local little theater--Springs Ensemble Theater, the ones Charlie made the big black bird puppet for. In the silent auction, I scored a gift certificate for $25 off services at a hair salon. I set it aside and forgot about it until after the holidays, finally called them to make an appointment to use it the very day it was to expire. (Very short span of time for a gift certificate!) She wasn't in, so I made an appointment with whoever answered... Sign in to see full entry.

Charlie wrote this
...shortly after our Davy died a few months ago. The Tracker Tracks on the old trail unwinding their way through forest and field lost in the rocks and the streams and found again. By day and night the tracks are seen a path meandering with intention following hints of memory instinct and maybe something else something hard for us to understand we are so cerebral. The tracks lead out, and in, and in, and out until you lose yourself in the following. Each print is an echo of the past as much as... Sign in to see full entry.

New Milo pictures
https://www.flickr.com/gp/therovingeye/2a1958 He visited this morning for a while, explored the back yard, and we did a bit of treats-training. We focused on come, up!, lie down. That last puzzles him quite a bit. It is all about learning each other's language. He is not that into food treats, so when he goes out, I can't get him in by hollering Come! and offering a treat. However, if I go in the house and bark or woof or yap like a dog, he shows up immediately! Unless he sees that it's me. Then... Sign in to see full entry.

The Voice of Milo
While Charlie was away yesterday, Milo came to hang out with me. He explored the back yard this side of the fence, poked his nose into a few things, and listened to whatever floated on the air... It was the sounds of other dogs that most got his attention. I have mentioned before, I think, that Milo is not a barkative fellow. Charlie has reported that Milo play-barks towards the cat Sokka who is a rather doggish cat, and they seem to be getting on nicely as they get acquainted. Charlie has... Sign in to see full entry.

Milo
https://www.flickr.com/gp/therovingeye/2ZBmg8 Energetic but polite with cats and food and toys... hardly barks at all, likes to ride in the car, adores Charlie already, cuddles... He is 9 months old, neutered, and a real sweet-heart, was probably a post-hurricane rescue from Louisiana. He knows "sit" and not much else. He is listed as part border collie, part corgi, and Charlie says his bark is all corgi! But his ears are border collie! Sign in to see full entry.
