I have written 90 articles in this blog as of today. Of the current 824 hits recorded since the hit counter appeared in Feb, I think, 64 readers have left comments. The most left by any one reader is 47; 16 readers have left 5 or more; 7 of those are in the double-digits. And why am I looking at this in such a way? I've offered these articles to a newspaper to run as a feature. I would like to include some of the comments and discussions we have had, as well, as you have often contributed to the... Guilt is one of the devices people use to get their needs met. I can't say I think it is a fair means to that end, but it does work short term sometimes, and when one is too tired or confused to look far past the short term, that's enough: it's an easy 'automatic' to fall into. "Right,' or not, we do it. Some people opt for other good short-term, bad long-term solutions like brutality, or sheer obstinacy, or some other innately primate way of getting obstacles out of the way, or outlasting a... Free Will-- What I am talking about is spiritual free will. How that translates to the body and our daily choices is that we have freedom of thought, freedom of belief, but not necessarily freedom of action. It is, as always, a matter of balancing soul and body interests. But we are not just spirit. We are human as well as being: body and psychology come into it, as well. And society. We cannot act in a social world as if we are the only one that counts: we have to tailor our choices and intent,... Sign in to see full entry.
In my Universe, the burden of finding belief is on the one demanding proof. I don't feel that I have to defend or justify or prove that the God I know is real. The ones who think I have to prove something to them are mistaken in the notion that I want them to believe what I believe: that I want them to agree with my Truth. In fact, I don't want to convince anyone. I am putting up signposts, sketching maps and playing with puzzle pieces, and I am most gratified when someone finds that these... Sign in to see full entry.
I didn't used to... I don't want to... I walked through the Museum of Torture, in a city that was the height of civilization of the day, when the implements there were in regular use, and I could hardly believe that people could deliberately use these things, could even have thought of them... I remember the Chicago apartment that was occupied by the children of a band of drug addicts-- children from practically newborn to school-age... and no one was caring for them but themselves... They were... Sign in to see full entry.
This is a piece I first posted elsewhere... It is about healing others-- troubled people that touch our lives, annoy and take advantage... sometimes hurt and mangle, in their passage... But it is also about the Parts of our Selves that are wrapped around our own deepest hurts and fears... Lurking, whispering, doing their best to distract and seduce... Self-pity... Resentment... Envy... Others, in other masks and guises... They all have pitiable reasons for their existence and their tragic... Sign in to see full entry.
It is widely accepted by the spiritually-minded that babies and children can see clairvoyantly because they haven't yet had the ability 'shut down.' That children have a sense of who they are that transcends family and physical identity. It has been observed--you can read it in the literature of death and dying--that children do not fear death until they are taught to. That they know they are eternal Selves. I'm not convinced that every child is clairvoyant, or does have that transcendant sense... Sign in to see full entry.
It becomes evident that this 'classroom' is all about learning to choose when we consider that practically everything we deal with is offered in dichotomies-- night and day, male and female, happy and sad... The first step is seeing the world in black and white, and then learning to distinguish shades of grey and the subtlest of colors and textures and essences that make each thing unique, and individual... And then it comes around to the recognition that it is all One... Sooner or later, it... Sign in to see full entry.
another shape of Cause and Effect. It is a principle of spiritual process. You are opposing the idea that victims of the horrors of life-- in this context, a physical process--are in any way to blame for their own trials and tribulations. We are looking at two different levels of cause and effect. I am talking about the powerfulness of what we are as spirit; you are speaking on behalf of the powerlessness of what we are as bodies. You are speaking for Justice, I think, another fascinating topic!... Sign in to see full entry.
Karma is another of those words that slips and slides through our understanding in a variety of interpretations. Most generally it seems to be translated as Fate or Doom. To modern ears, Doom is a grim word, implying death and disaster. Originally, though, it meant pretty much the same as Fate: the path ordained for a person by the inteventions of Divine notice. Back then, whenever that was, it didn't sound so terrible or odd to be 'doomed to love and fulfilment.' But maybe the sinister aspect... Sign in to see full entry.
