Our world is about fingers and thumb, and the surface of the land-- we have to work hard to escape it up, or down... and what our eyes tell us, and what to say, what words spoken and written mean... A dolphin's world is more auditory than visual, and has relatively effortless access to more dimensions, but is not at all about what hands can do, about the physical manipulation and adjustment of the environment. They do not use, nor therefore think in strings of words--though I would not argue... Sign in to see full entry.
Periannath You two were eager lads and reckless with all the joys of youth who never had a troubled thought nor moment of heavy truth. Your games and follies, they never hurt nor cost you very dear; In all your sunny lives, you never tasted darkness and fear. Yet somehow despite the ease and delights, courage sparked and grew and made noble souls, and steady strength, and loyal hearts in you, and when the world and your lives grew dark, it seemed you always knew: It matters not, your stature or... Contest time again... the challenge was a costanza, which is this form, and the theme, Merry and Pippin. Duet Merry to Pippin You are a menace, Pippin Took, the way that mischief follows you, as impulse prompts the things you do-- Sometimes, you're begging to be shook! Oh, Pippin, you are such a lad! You're never meaning to be bad, You're into every niche and nook without a thought of what comes next, and when it does, you're so perplexed! You can't not touch, you can't not look! You'll burn... Some of us design our lives after our hopes of getting into Heaven: laying up karmic points, being Good, keeping score, looking for eventual reward and salvation as the future pay-off. Life then is more about getting paid back for suffering losses and deprivations in life--as if seeing pain, injustice and frustration as an investment makes sense of the hardness of life, and makes it other than futile. Investing in a future Heavenly reward is a positive thing if it comforts in hardship, but not... Sign in to see full entry.
Something in his blog and comments pushed a button... I daresay it was more important to me to say this, than needful from his perspective! I am not the source of anything but my own interpretations-- I certainly did not mean to suggest anything begins with me! What I am trying to convey is that we all have an ability to perceive a much wider spectrum of energy than is commonly believed. We have to get around our own filters-- beliefs, investments, programming--to distinguish one energy from... Sign in to see full entry.
In response to Paige's blog regarding personal failure to live up to the standards she set herself as a 16 year old avowed Christian, ( http://www.blogit.com/Blogs/Blog.aspx/paigeandreligion/ ) Iwrote this comment, and I think it may be worth sharing more generally: It's easy to have the highest of standards at 16-- Then you start coming up against real life in the real world--if you've spent several years in college, that's still a pretty protected time, so it takes several years more before... We all have our own personal criteria for deciding what's what, and what's real, especially those things that are ephemeral in nature, or non-corporeal, like emotion. Like knowing when we are loved. We rely on indirect cues and clues to be sure of something that has so many counterfeits and substitutes, that springs so easily from wishful thinking and fear-based feeling, that is identified and defined so variously. For many of us, much turns on the question of love: of truly loving, and truly... Sign in to see full entry.
It was like a dream adaptation of the latest blogit soap-opera, wrapped in some of the weirdities of my own subconscious. We need not go into details of either. The gist of it was this: Sometimes, people don't fit into their social scene neatly, but live in their own worlds, disconnected from the 'normal'--which is to say, on the bell-curve of behavior, belief, and belonging, they dwell closer to the edge of the bell than the big, central dome. We all, to some extent, in some area of our lives... Sign in to see full entry.
My daughter just had a call from her husband who flew to Seattle on business a day after I arrived at their home in Singapore. I asked her what time it is there. Time has so many natures, depending on where we are seeing it from, especially from what state of mind. Sign in to see full entry.
(clipped this from someone who clipped it from the Wall Street Journal some time ago) Lord of the Office. (from the Wall Street Journal) Aragorn is the white knight in Sauron's hostile takeover, putting out and lighting fires as the case may be. Life coach Mr. Grey helps out team leader Baggins from the Hobbiton group. Grey battles The Balrog worm in security level 8.
