A bit of info about Samos

As I mentioned in my previous post, we are heading for a short trip to the Greek island of Samos tomorrow. In case you are interested, here is some info about this not only beautiful but also historically interesting island off the coast of Asia. As nautikos already pointed out, Samos was the home... First outing in Turkey

Can't leave my blogit friends without a few pictures from our first trip. 'The girls' went to the lovely port town of Kusadasi, as ususal in the local bus called dolmus. It's a convenient and cheap means of transport and the little buses run absolutely everywhere and stop at handsignals, even if you... Sign in to see full entry.

Praise for an editor

I need to name a name: it's Jennifer Ciotta and she is the editor of the travel magazine. I already have one published article there and I submitted another one on the Turkish mountain village of Doganbey as it reminded me of the Great Gatsby and the valler of ashes. And this is the story why this... Sign in to see full entry.

A Turkish sense of humor

Ok, my friends, the entertainment continues. Yesterday I decided to buy a new pair of flip-flops to go to the pool as mine are a bit shabby. I made my way to a tiny shoe shop and to my surprise, the shop assistant was barefoot. I couldn't resist to ask him if this was because he didn't have faith in... Sign in to see full entry.

Desorientation

It's sort of funny really to live through the first few days in a completely different environment and place. For some reason, it seems to take longer this time for me to get my head around where I am. This night, I had to get up to...you know what and I couldn't find my own bathroom. It's not that... Hallo America!

As you can see, I have safely made it back to Turkey and even my computer is working which is a great relief. Right now, we have water and electricity (which was a big problem during my last stay). So far, so good. Now I have to tell you something which will make you laugh too. I learned a new job... Sign in to see full entry.

An incentive to be good..

I've put this in the humor section, but it only belongs half there as it contains a serious message as well. Here goes: I just imagined Michael Jackson, Freddy Mercury and Elvis, in white gowns and wings (I'm not so sure about the halo, but never mind) playing great gigs together in heaven for God,... For lovers of the sea and ships

I'm tidying up bits and pieces, getting my pictures organised to store on my external drive in preparation for my departure from Miami. Those of you who know and follow me know, that I am a 'water baby', I love the sea, the ocean and anything on it. (In it too, as long as it isn't a shark.) If I... Sign in to see full entry.

Two things I would like to see globalisation for

One is the time. For someone like me, who hasn't grown up with the 'am' and 'pm' business, the time is a source of confusion. I find numbering the hours from 1 to 24 easier, clearer and there is no margin for simple mistakes. I mean, you can't possibly confuse a 7.00 appointment with one at 19.00... A challenge for my friends..

No early morning swim for me today. A thunderstorm is just brewing and I can't get in the pool until it passes. So, the mind went 'swiming' instead and came up with this idea: why don't we create a chain poem between us? Sort of a 'theme poem' for blogit. Here is the title and the first two lines...
