Baby Magnet

Ever since I became a mother I have found I can never go past a stroller without noticing the child on board, and I often find myself engaging with little ones sitting in their shopping carts ahead of me at the checkout. I have fond memories of my Thursday morning shop at Tesco’s, with my daughter... Sign in to see full entry.

Twenty-three

At twenty-three I shopped with my mother on a sunny Saturday, in my neat jeans and skinny top and my strappy leather sandals that I loved so much, that summer when I was free a young divorcee - me! - visiting my mum and dad, sleeping in my old room, without my sisters, both married too, one because... Poem

Over The Edge Why do I scream at you? Because you won’t listen. Because you say it is all my fault. Because you won’t let me go even when we have negotiated terms, pretty much, subject to tax issues that I need to be sure of before I commit to less than half so that you will leave me alone. And... Nailed...!

I never thought my nails would cost me a job. Let me explain. I had a text message this afternoon from a casting agency, for extras, that I joined some years ago. I have done a couple of commercials, nothing very major but fun at the time. One was for a multi-vitamin pill for the older generation... Sign in to see full entry.

Monday Morning

You love me, and you crush my hand Because I say I don’t want to hold it, Say you’ll throw me in the pool If I don’t behave, Lose your temper, inside, and Push me back to the wall Take my head between your hands And hit it against the clock Which falls off the wall. But, it wasn’t all that bad, You... Sign in to see full entry.

Nail Salon Update

I haven't done a nail salon update for a while. Two weeks ago I decided, because it isn't so easy to get infills done everywhere in England if I actually go, that I would have the acrylics taken off and have a manicure. Not a smart move. The customer next to me said she would bet I'd have them back... Sign in to see full entry.

A Lightbulb Moment

One of the things I have really appreciated since joining blogit is the way that members support each other. Some of our members have been through bad times, and have been very brave and open, and writing for an audience does seem to focus the mind. So now that I know you all so well, I want to... Exile - 3

Here I am again, my weekly grumble... at least that's the way it seems at the moment. Dame Edna tonight, and then Inspector Lynley. I lead a quiet life, when things are not erupting around here. So far it's been pretty quiet for a week or so, if you don't count last Friday when the grumpy person was... Sign in to see full entry.

And Which Way is Up?

I know I haven't been here a lot lately. My creative mind seems to have gone awol, consumed as I am with thoughts of what to do about my situation. I try to leave things to sit in my unconscious (following Dr Jung's advice) and to take note of my dreams or my waking thoughts, and sometimes I offer... "A Day in the Life," for Muser

Today I had a day at home, doing not very much of anything. Last night was enough. After a fairly long day working at the University, I had stopped by the post office just before five to buy a box, wanting to mail a book to my daughter in France. I went back to the car, which began misbehaving. I... Sign in to see full entry.
