Another book about the early Christian Church . . . .

That I highly recommend your reading: Jesus and the Lost Goddess: The Secret Teachings of the Original Christians by Peter Gandy (Author), Timothy Freke (Author) These two authors have several books along the same topic and are well-worth taking a look at. Sign in to see full entry.

Although the work is fictional . . . .

The author seems to have done a lot of research of fact to support his story. Interesting information about churches and church design, not to mention church politics through the ages, is intertwined with the most excellent story presented by author Dan Brown in his book The da Vinci Code. Whether... Sign in to see full entry.

Ritual in Church

Ritual is important in any church service becase it gives the religion, as well as the service, structure. It helps people know what to do and when to do it. People like the comfort of knowing what to expect, and, in church, it is the ritual that provides that familiarity that comforts people. Sign in to see full entry.

Satellite Church . . .

Some of the local churches around here have what they call "Satellite Church" on Wednesday evenings. It is a meeting of small groups in the homes of volunteer congregation members. Each Wednesday, a group of 5 to 10 people gather at one of the member's homes to discuss the Bible or to work on prayer... Sign in to see full entry.

Although most fundamentalists causing trouble in this country are Christians, this post is aimed at the fundamentalists of all religions, not just Christianity. Fundamentalism seems to be the cancer in any religion; fundamentalism is what keeps religion from keeping up with the times. If there is a... Sign in to see full entry.

A Blogging Church

Some minister should start a blogging church. Each week s/he would post a sermon and the congregation would post comments and questions on the sermon, to be answered by the minster. Kind of like an interactive church. Who knows, maybe such already exists. Sign in to see full entry.

Church Allergies and Church Addictions . . . . .

just like everything else, it seems, Church can be addictive. Some people have a strong, addictive need to be in church whenever they can,and must be participating in that church's events, all of them, all the itme. When the church is not available to them, for whatever the reason, then thy must... Sign in to see full entry.

Church as Social Outlet . . .

Many staunch churchgoers spend almost every free moment with some church activity or meeting or sermon or fundraiser. Is this really leading a balanced life? I can't fault them for staying out of trouble (if they really are!), but shouldn't a life be one of variety and of intersts that are anchored... Sign in to see full entry.
