Can you have a Church with out a Deity?

A comment to this blog stated that one must have a deity to have a church. There are a couple things wrong with that concept. First, all religions don't have a Deity. Second, for those who believe in the Christian God, God is everywhere. There was a basic flaw in reasoning on that aspect, if the... Sign in to see full entry.

Personal Mini-Churches

As a Pagan, I travel with a portable church, a circular rabbit skin, some multi-colored rocks and some small religious figures to set up a small circle for ritual. These items can also be used to set up an altar in a hotel room or a guest room when I travel. Do other religions have similar... Sign in to see full entry.

How about a Church without Religion?

This has been touched on in this blog before, but I envision a church as a public building where no deity is represeted, a place where all are welcome and all communie with whomever they choose simultaneously with others who may or may not share the same beliefs. No sermons, no music, no art, just a... Sign in to see full entry.

Picnic Services

How about this for a church service idea: Have the regular church service outdoors, in a park-like setting, with room to lay out blankets, and picnic tables available. Then the congregation could meet for a Sunday Picnic Service; they could take in Nutritional Nourishment while they took in... Sign in to see full entry.

Here's an interesting idea for a Church design:

How about a convertable church, one with a roof that opens to the sky for services to allow in the sun, or stars, during the service. Howq closer to get into the spirit of things created? One could also design the walls to open into a forest, or a beach, or to some other natural surrounding.... Sign in to see full entry.

Lets Bring Back Bast

My cats have decided, voted no less, and they outnumber us 3.5 to 1.0, that our family is to convert to Bast Worship, and they consider themselves to be direct descendants of Bast. For more info, click on the following link: Bast Sign in to see full entry.

A comment to me on this blog

mentioned a community where there were buildings that were shared by various denominations/religious groups. That person said it fostered a sense of cooperation and interfaith love, and, I imagine, trust. What a good idea for communities to follow. What the world needs now, is....... Sharing Churches

One of the things that religious people do quite often, at least in my area, is to share their churches with other congregations. For one reason or another, a church may be temporarily "homeless," and another church will offer the use of its sanctuary. I have even seen cross-religious sharing, i.e.,... The Early Christian Church

Today's Pagans are probably closer in beliefs to the early Christians than are today's Christians. Check out these books by Timothy Freke: The Jesus Mysteries Sign in to see full entry.

Church and Architecture . . . . .

I wonder if people are influenced by a church's architecture. Assuming two churches are of the same denomination, and have ministers of equal stature and ability, would a person choose one over the other based on how the building looked? If so, how different would the minister and his performance... Sign in to see full entry.
