The Church of Dramatic Readings

This may work best in Hollywoood, but could work locally in other places. Instead of a minister reading from scripture, have actors, preferably from the congregation, act out the various passages witht he minister acting as a kind of narrator. In these days, it may mean the difference between people... Sign in to see full entry.

An Idea for an Extended Family Church

In this church, the congregation would be made up of family members in any particular area. This would work particularly well for families with most of their members in the same general geographic area. This would include the clergy being a family member, the choir also would be family members.... Sign in to see full entry.

Novelty Church Buildings

Diners have done this - hot dog shaped buildings, etc. Why not churches? One could have the obvious, a cross-shaped church building, but how about one resembling an ark? Or, a church building that resembled a sheep ranch (shepherd, sheep, get it?). Another popular shape could be the tablets on which... Sign in to see full entry.

For Those without Internet Access. . . .

How about a Conference Call Church? One in which you call into to a special number every Sunday morning at a specific time to partake in services. The number could be a 900 number or such to automatically take care of each caller's tithing that week. Sign in to see full entry.

Imagine a Church or Religion that held the theological belief that God

was a single supreme being who was so far beyound us that we would never be able to understand the slightest thing about God, not the tiniest bit. This religion would acknowledge a being (worshipping such a being would be anathema) who was all and knew all and did all, yet who did not involve itself... Sign in to see full entry.

Dichotomy in the Church . . . .

It is claimed that Jesus said for us to love others as we love ourselves, even to love our enemies. Well, if that is a foundation of Christianity, there are few Christians. Though, many Christian groups, and I use that term very loosely, claim to act with god's guidance when they maim and kill those... Sign in to see full entry.

Church Behavior

Church behavior varies widely from the rambunctious hollering and "Amens" of the neighborhood evangelical storefront church, to the more reserved Lutherans, to the semi-wild Unitarians, to the ritualistic Catholics. Which serves god best? I'd guess that whatever makes you a more spiritual person... Sign in to see full entry.

A Techno Idea for a Church: A "Pulpit of Truth"

How about a state-of-the-art "Lie Detector" built into the pulpit with a readout on the front of the pulpit so that the congregation could read the true feelings of any minister speaking to them? All financial reports would also have to be given from that pulpit so that the members of the church... Sign in to see full entry.

Church Decor

I've been to a good number of churches, and most could use help with the decor, ranging from colors that enhance worship, to more comfortable pews, to more amenities. Can't speak for others, but I am more receptive when I am physically comfortable. Sign in to see full entry.

Let's Set Up Churches Like Schools

Since we are looking for a kind of spiritual education when we attend church, right? We could have a lead minister/priest, who, like a principal, would be in charge of everything. Next, there would be lesser ministers who would specialize in varius aspects of the faith, i.e., birth, death, theology,... Sign in to see full entry.
