Yesterday was actually hot--mid-80s is, for me, hot! But today we're back in mid-70s and that's, to me, delightful! Suddenly, the garden is awake! The wisteria is particularly vigorous, you can almost sit and watch the vines reach out, the leaves bursting and buds promising. I've always loved wisteria and I'm hoping to train it to make a kind of bower over the back porch. Last year didn't make it around the corner but this time it will, I think, make the leap! Spring fever leads to unexpected... Sign in to see full entry.

Mother's Day evening
Hoping you've had a good Mother's Day! At almost 8pm the western sky is still post sunset bright, though there are dark clouds to the north with the occasional roll of thunder. You can see the rain falling but not quite to the ground. It has been a lovely day with temperatures in the mid-70s a a bit of gusty wind now and then. Over the past couple of days the front deck has become a garden once again, and different from all the summers before. Charlie helped to clear the back porch, too, once... Sign in to see full entry.

Spring's back, again...
Sunny and warm today, so They promise, maybe with thunderstorms. I bought the first of this season's flowers and cleaned up, reorganized the deck yesterday. Now I've got columbines and a tender young clematis vine that will bloom pink and white in days to come. There are some African daisies in a light purple and some more in a dusky pink that shades to purple. I potted those and set them by the pot containing sage, rosemary and thyme. No parsley yet. This morning, going out to water the... Sign in to see full entry.

Rainy Day 2
It's chilly but not enough for snow here in CoSprings. Rain isn't so common here, and living in high-desert country, it's a welcome event. It's easy to have a 'rain day' of not going out without great necessity, knowing in a day or two it will be clear and warmer again. Such was not the case living in Olympia WA where the rains of winter drip and pour and cascade from September to April with occasional breaks. That paid for the rain forests greens and the idyllic summers! I'm watching David... Sign in to see full entry.

Rainy Day
There's a splatter of rain on the back glass door, the sky is lumpy grey, and it's chilly enough to have the heat on again. I've been off Facebook all day since seeing that there's an organized boycott of Meta this week, the 5th through the 11th. Once again, the greatest power of the consumer is to decline to consume. So... this afternoon I'm consuming a season of American Idol. I don't much care who wins, I just like listening to the marvelous voices! It's a good background to writing or... And the very next day...
It started early: I was out of the house by 9 am, on the way to the post office before my package could be loaded on the truck to be not delivered again today. Success! I not only picked up the package, I also had a chat with the supervisor that is likely to have some repercussions for the delivery driver who could not be bothered to come to the door to get the required signature. I was home in time for my landlord who was coming to fix a mushy circuit in the circuit box, and to let in the guys... Sign in to see full entry.

Veils...
The rain falling over in the mountains... Spring rising in the trees... I was driving across town today and saw the veils, with dark clouds over the mountains and trees lit by the sunlight from over the plains, kinda wanted to take a photo but there were power lines across every view, and the inertia of being on the way to somewhere. I'm expecting the redelivery of NZ yarn today that I missed yesterday by being away from the house. It has been problematic the past several times I've gotten yarn... Sign in to see full entry.

After the event
Sun is shining, temps heading for the high 60s, They say... The weekend event was overall a success, though not a roaring one. We made table, which is the first goal, and Charlie is very close to his rent goals for the coming month. He sent home 4 bears and a bapper, and we both engaged with a number of people who will possibly be good contacts in times to come. My photo display just didn't work as practiced for lack of a secure way to display them: the least jolt on the racks sent them falling.... Sign in to see full entry.

Taking a moment...
We're here at the workshop packing up for this weekend's Curiosities show. Happily it's only about 3 miles from here, so trips are quick and forgotten bits and pieces, easy to return for. It's grey and damp today. Much of our weather that starts in clouds tends to hit in clumps, in neighborhoods more often that covering the whole region at once. You can sometimes see the storm over one area and wonder if it's going to be coming this way. Especially in summer that's how the thunderstorms behave.... Sign in to see full entry.

Here we go again...
Snow is in today's forecast, temps never to reach as high as 40F. And Charlie has a LARPing event up in Woodland Park this weekend where it is likely going to be ever so much more so. Since having my attention drawn to several of my life-long tendencies and habits as symptoms of autism, each time I hear of a new one I can just about always recognize a moment in my life when it was exemplified. Most recently, the tendency to freeze under pressure. It's why I'd do very badly on Jeopardy, despite... Sign in to see full entry.
