Becoming Whole

Many pages ago, I wrote about core beliefs: the deeply held beliefs by which we are influenced in our lives, our choices and decisions: What we believe to be true about the world, about other people, about our own capabilities and limits. Societies also hold core beliefs that inform the culture of the society. Such beliefs in an individual can be life-enhancing, or so limiting as to make life barely possible. Some beliefs are essentially dysfunctional, some are self-destructive. Most of us are... Sign in to see full entry.

To you... and you... and you... and me...

Like Auden's flashing lights sparking in the darkness that so often seems so overwhelming, we greet each other despite different times and distances between, and know that there is Light always and we are not alone if only we look up and shine. Sign in to see full entry.

Like fireflies, like Auden's "Ironic points of light..."

There are stars whose radiance is visible on Earth though they have long been extinct. There are people whose brilliance continues to light the world though they are no longer among the living. These lights are particularly bright when the night is dark. They light the way for humankind. -Hannah Senesh, poet, playwright, and paratrooper (1921-1944) Go here, to see what Light looks like: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hannah_Szenes Sign in to see full entry.

"YAWN...!"

It used to be said that Man is the animal that uses tools... grieves... laughs... speaks with language... cries... empathizes... is altruistic... None of these proofs of our 'betterness' than other animals, that indeed, raise us above being mere animals, have stood the test of time and observation, the test of reality. Chimpanzees use tools, and so do some birds: not just use, but alter a thing to make it more useable for a specific purpose. All the Great Apes have been taught to use sign... Mindfulness

Paying attention, giving heed... Considering consequences... Putting your shirt on inside out... Not noticing you've put your shirt on inside out... Most of us operate on auto-pilot as much as we can, we are in such a rush! We are several steps ahead, but slack when it comes to considering Right Now. Have you ever been rear-ended by someone who didn't realize you stopped for a yellow light about to turn red? They were already through the intersection, when suddenly, you were there, snapping them... Sign in to see full entry.

The Gospel of Jesus' Wife

What an uproar over a dash of writing on a scrap of papyrus! To me, the curious thing is not what is written there, nor what it says or implies. What interests me is the emotional reaction to what may well be another piece of the puzzle of earliest Christianities. There were so many little congregations and interpretations of what we call Gospel, in those first centuries, but we, two millenia later, have come to believe that there was ever only one that was correct. That is, of course, an... Sign in to see full entry.

Light and Shadow: thoughts on the passing of Fred Phelps.

Everything is energy. The very high vibration we call God matches a vibration that on other levels we call Love. God is the highest vibration of Love. When we experience love, when we feel it and give it, that is God in us, whatever kind of love it is. It's all different octaves of the same note. Some who claim a close association with God, and probably even believe it, have little of love in them: their entire message is based in hatred and, ultimately, fear. These are people of the shadows,... Sign in to see full entry.
