I'm picking out a grocery cart and mentally packing...........

When Fall comes, I bring in the plants for the winter, exchange clothing in the shed from summer clothing packages to winter, turn on the gas heater, close windows, put on long underwear and bring out the doggie blankets to cover up the pooches while they slumber on the futon. I keep this house cold because I cannot afford warm. I keep my fingers warm in the cold clay all winter by wearing wool caps on my head and wool scarves around my neck, the heat radiates out to my pinkies then. The economy... I've Revived An Old SPAM Email Blog and changed it.......

beachbelle found me, that woman is everywhere, reading everything! I don't know how she does it. She found a new blog that I started yesterday and told me to direct you to it. I thought about not doing that, keeping it hidden and then said, "What the heck!" It is called Grandma Embedded in America. You might go check it out. Don't get upset about this other, hippie and poverty stricken and opinionated side of your old Abuelita. Sometimes, I just can't keep my self to myself. Sign in to see full entry.

I Can't Sleep and Am Drinking a Beer, omigosh!!!

It is 2:46 a.m. There are four dogs in the house and I still can't close my eyes. Earlier this evening, someone hit my front door with their shoulder, I think, really hard, the house shook and the dogs inside, two at that time, began to bark. Harry Potter was on t.v. and something noisy was happening in the film and I couldn't hear very well. I sat at my work table and kept painting, unable to process the event. Two minutes later four police cars stopped in front of my house and a helicopter... Sign in to see full entry.

Just thinking and hearing Whirled Peas

I had read last month that there was a movement in Guyana (old British Guiana, South America) to become another of the United States of North America. Today on the news there was another story about some Peruvians who wish to promote the same thing, not Guyana’s place as 51 st state, but their own and then Guyana’s as 52 nd American state, I’m assuming. So, I am encouraged by these foolish people, to think that we are still not so bad, some want to join us still in forming a more perfect union,... Sign in to see full entry.

What I Believe, I think, yeah, what I believe.............

I have set out on a reading regimen, reading the words of writers whose words stand the test of time and could have been written yesterday, though they were set down on paper decades or even centuries ago. This morning I read E.M. Forester’s essay, " What I Believe ". He was born in 1879 and you would think that his old words would have no connection with a 'modern-techno' world and you'd be wrong. I found that I believe what he does, did. Here's how he opens the essay. "I do not believe in... Sign in to see full entry.

Rain and hail and toys and songs and candles, my life

Dear Gentle Readers, this is just a quick note to let you know that I am still breathing, though long absences may cause you to think that I might have succombed, gone into that gentle night. I know that I am still alive and kicking because I yelled at the news reporter, local news, who introduced her next story by saying that the military had a new 'toy' and we should wait until after the commercial break for that story. Toy!!!??!! I was so upset, that a reporter would use the word 'toy' when... Sign in to see full entry.

Grandma writes, There Used to be The Rack, Now There's The Press

I have this fear of alienating blog readers by actually giving my opinions, ancient and ill defined as they may be, on the subject of America today, as I see it, but I can’t watch television news in English anymore, except for the John Stewart Show. He and his staff seem to see the mess as I see it. I can also watch the BBC News, Mexican news stations and Die Deutsche Welle or whatever it’s called and the two C-Spans. However, as reporters all over the world begin to ‘spin’ news, because we are... Sign in to see full entry.

Life is Crazy and Oh So Good

My mom went to her bank, paid off her car loan, she's 81, went to the Day Care owned by my sister and helped her in the front office until 2 p.m. and then started home. She drove through a red light about ten blocks from the center on a small back road, tested the reflexes of a drunk driver who thought that he could drink, drive and react at 2 p.m. on any given drinking day, and he failed to miss my mother's car. Her car was then flung into a parked car, one which HAD stopped for the red light.... In My Little Corner of this Enormous World

The best news of the day for my family was that the third kidnapper and murderer of the President of Honduras’ son, Ricardo Ernesto Maduro, was condemned to 30 years in prison. Efrain Amado Ordonez, got less than he was due, but he made it through the tragically, but not totally, corrupt judicial system of that small nation with sentence intact. He is the last man to have been sentenced, who took part in that travesty. A program on television yesterday, in Spanish, so you may have missed it,... Sign in to see full entry.
