Valley Fever, Immigration and Students Who Fail to Care for themselves

My ex-host son, Franck, from Togo has had a cough for six months, unknown to me. He rarely calls. His sister called a little worried and then his mom called from Lome'. So, I contacted his doctor and it looks like he has contracted our southwestern disease, known as Valley Fever. Fungus in the lungs. It blows in the wind, in the soil that flies from all of the construction going on. We are growing as a city and the soil is churned constantly now. Valley Fever increases in the human and animal... Our Wisc. quarters have an extra leaf on the cornstalk here in AZ.

I saw a sign today on a store which read, " Offering $200 for Wisconsin quarters!!!" Well, now I read the newspapers and find that the quarters are mutant and worth up to $500 each. This store is out to make some money. I will hit the bank tomorrow and begin buying rolls of quarters to look through each day...what the heck!!! Wish me luck! I could use a few quarters worth of extra leaves on my cornstalks. Back when my new computer is up, missing you already. Sign in to see full entry.

Some Fool stole my debit card number and used it !!!

My bank called me, see details in my Grandma Embedded in America blog, and I spent the rest of the day banging my head on nearby things. My grandon and assistant detective tried to cheer me up. He told me to put on a cd, so I did, in the car. We sang my favorite song from Toure' Kunda, Fatou Yo. We cranked it and sang it twelve times. When I began to bang my head on the car window again, he said, "I'll sing you a little song that I learned on television." He sang, " I'm sitting and singing, I'm... Sign in to see full entry.

A Sentimental Journey

"Gonna take a sentimental journey, gonna set my heart at ease. Gonna take a sentimental journey to renew old memories." The song wended its way through my brain like a meandering young child on an unimportant errand on a lovely afternoon. My brother drove the Suburban, my sister, its owner, road shotgun and talked all the way about her dreams of financial success in her new ventures. As she spoke, she used hand signals to nag him about his driving, so as not to interrupt her conversation. Hand... Sign in to see full entry.

Be Careful What You Teach Your Children, Haunted by their Learning

My old auntie would attack her medically trained children when they offered health suggestions, showed concern for her, wanted to help her. "Stay out of my life, I decide everything about my body," she said and attacked them when saying it. They became intimidated over the years. She had a bowel obstruction for ten days before she casually mentioned it to her gathered children and my mom and sister at her birthday party in California. Her strong and mildly alienated daughter, the one who feared... Sign in to see full entry.

How Names Evolve, most humiliating was Apo, I Wanted to Die

rather than have any new and handsome boy stranger hear it from the lips of my horrid friends in school. Evolutionary names are a fact of life; names evolve voluntarily or otherwise. We do this to ourselves, to others and to our pets; others do it to us. My old dog, Najee, had a total of twenty-eight names from puppyhood to his final ‘forever’ name, before he died. Here is just one example of the 'evolution of naming' a relative of mine and his son. When the baby was born, he had gas like few... Sign in to see full entry.

Something Foolish...........Surfing cul-de sacs

You get online and try to get some work done and then you accidentally get directed to a site like Pimp Name Generator and you actually spend time there, trying to pimp your name. A foolish old woman should know better, but she doesn't. You hit the Pimpafy!! Button and silly things like Funk Master April Sweetness come out of it. Geeeeesh! Then, caught up in a wave of silliness, you find a second site which does a similar thing for you and you do it again at the Wu Name Generator, and thank... Sign in to see full entry.

Thanks Gomedome and Friar_Tuck for the pointers

Gomedome has a blog about Business now and I read it constantly. Friar_Tuck has his helpful Tech Blog and I am reading it lots, too. I'm also reading Guerilla Publicity by Jay Conrad Levinson, Rick Frishman and Jill Lublin. Very useful. So, I followed the friarcito's advice and went to check out MSN's new Blog Spaces and started a mirror blog which mostly will hold content from here, some that I especially like. Let's see if I can send you there. I posted lots of my artwork photos there, lots.... Sign in to see full entry.

OMG, ONE DAY left on My First Auction and No Takers !!! Sigh.

Another opportunity to pay the rent passes. The African Nativity on eBay has less than twenty-four hours left to go and it hasn't reached the Reserve Price yet, so it may not sell. Now, why won't this link work when the exact same html in the previous post does work? I have re-written it four times to make sure that it's right and NADA.............friar, see??? I live in Acceptance and reality rules. I have forgotten from one day to the next how to write the proper code. It looks right to me,... Sign in to see full entry.

Running in Place and Laughing, What the Heck !!

Another day of computer wrestling to get my second nativity, a more traditional, Middle Eastern themed nativity, up onto an eBay auction page. Remember, you must scroll down the page to the Items Selling area at the bottom of the page and then click on the Item Number of the second nativity to see the latest one. ONLY if you want to, otherwise, not. I haven't figured out how to do direct links to the selling page. They always fail me. Let's see if Abuelita can remember how to make a link, which...
