Judge Cashman; a real jurist

Sixty days. He gave the guy six days for child molestation. The reason the sentence was so short was so the guy could get out of jail to get some help with his problem and not be such a big menace to society or, well, at least young girls. Can’t he get help in jail? Maybe he should not have to worry... Sign in to see full entry.

Filibuster would be fun to see

If the Democrats can’t stop Sam Alito from getting elected to the Supreme Court they might try to filibuster the whole deal. I would like to see this. This might be fun to watch. The whole government would come to a grinding halt if it would last long enough. Our Congress couldn’t do much harm then.... Sign in to see full entry.

Was this really necessary?

N.J. lawmakers vote to suspend executions This was the headline on a CNN article on the Internet this morning. Even the good sister, Helen Prejean, was there to put in her two cents. So they are going to suspend executions in the state of New Jersey while they study some things. The last execution... Sign in to see full entry.

Alito and the Supreme Court: Does anyone really care?

The hearings will begin in earnest today. Judge Samuel Alito will begin to be questioned on his views on all sorts of subjects. The Senators on the committee asking the questions are all fired up and ready to go. But the public does not even have this issue on their radar. The media is covering it... With Ariel Sharon incapacitate, probably for good, the political situation in the Middle East will get complicated. Who will lead Israel will be a big question. The country is going to want to elect a strong leader they can trust. At first glance that might be Benjamin Netanyahu. His policies are... Sign in to see full entry.

This might get to be very interesting!

CNN reports in their Politics section that thirty-six members of Congress have decided to return money taken from lobbyist Jack Abramoff. The report says three-fourths are Republicans. So that means, one-fourth are Democrats. A name on the list of Democrats who are planning to return money, Hillary... Sign in to see full entry.

They think Abramoff is doing bad?

The Coushatta Indian tribe in Elton, Louisiana is mad! They are mad at Jack Abramoff taking $32 million, or $38,000, for every member of the tribe for lobbying and other services. They say they got little in return. They are claiming it’s just another example of the Native Americans being taken... Sign in to see full entry.

Who is going to lead?

With Tom Delay out of the picture, at least for the time being, the Republicans have to look at others for leadership of the party. There have been a lot of names mentioned and some quotes from some of these guys. Rep. Zach Wamp (Tenn.) says that "the leadership of Congress needs to be above... Sign in to see full entry.

Beware of plea deals

Jack Abramoff is going to begin singing like a bird very soon. That has politicians in Washington nervous. Some heads should roll over this one. Both Democrats and Republicans are involved with this guy. Even Harry Reid, a very powerful Democrat, has ties to this guy. I would hope we could get to... Sign in to see full entry.

Hope a politician doesn’t steal my car

Jack Abramoff gave money to everyone it seems for favors and such. Now, don’t get me wrong. This goes on on Capitol Hill all the time. It’s more than this one guy doing this. Both parties had members taking gifts from this guy. Who knows what will happen with all of this. I am sure not much will... Sign in to see full entry.
