Central Texas was spared the devastation of Hurricane Rita. The storm ran along the TX/LA border and is now a tropical storm raining down on the IL/OH/KY/TN quad-state area. Last night I went to both the Target and Wal-Mart superstores closest to where I live. People had bought out nearly all C-Cell batteries, all D-Cells, cheap flashlights, and bottled water.
