Springtime's arrival in Michigan, is breathtaking in its majesty!

Old man winter is breathing his last few breaths, finally! The majority of the mud and slush is just a nasty memory, and winter’s final frigid gasps are driven off, before lunchtime. Now is the season of asparagus, morel mushrooms, lilacs, dogwood, apple, cherry, crabapple, pear blossoms, forsythia, buttercups, mustard, lady’s slippers, bluebonnets, fiddlehead ferns, frogs, deer flies, and mosquitoes. (It is a shame about those last two) For brilliant colors, spring and fall will always rival... Sign in to see full entry.

That old spark of life! How fascinating, to contemplate the wonders of it.

We have a thick mat of fiberfill material that was being used as a barrier between the vinyl waterbed mattress, and the bottom sheet on our bed. It became necessary to launder it, but it would have shredded if a big enough washing machine could have been found. I hung it over the clothesline, sprayed it with the hose, sprayed a Clorox solution, detergent, and rinsed it. That night it became windy, blew it off the clothesline, and got dirt, sticks and grass stuck to it. I tried drying it again... Sign in to see full entry.

At least the neighoborhood CATS will rest easier, soon!

Friday, Marilyn found out what kind of a dog owns us. Whenever someone asked us what variety of animated Brillo pad he is, all I could tell them is that he is half devil, half dog. On Friday, Marilyn and her granddaughter Ivy saw another dog that looked just like ours and began talking with the owner. It turns out that Baby is a Cairn terrier. The dog that they saw is a female and her owners have wanted to find another Cairn terrier, (male) object matrimony, so to speak. Baby doesn’t even know... Sign in to see full entry.

California gays are in for a shock when they marry!

In California, it is now legal for everyone but those who are polygamous, pedophiles and deviant animal-lovers to legally marry. As loudly as those on the far right will squeal about the California Supreme Court’s ruling, I think that this is a step forward for the United States. Generally accepted figures on the number of people who are born homosexual put the percentage at about 10% of humanity. With the exception of Iran, of course, where there are none! This is a significant minority of our... Sign in to see full entry.

A welcome bit of comic relief, here at Sage Haven!

As I was sitting on the couch the other day, I became aware that I was hearing a sound that reminded me of days of long ago. You know the sound of which I speak. It was very similar to the barely audible sound of a baby, straining to fill up his diaper. With no baby present, (thankfully!) I looked behind me on the back of the couch, only to find Baby (the canine variety) quivering with tension and peering intently out the window. He knows that I get angry when he suddenly barks at a passing dog... Sign in to see full entry.

Living with Neanderthals, while intellectually interesting, is difficult!

People make me CRAZY! What would make a person walking past someone holding a phone to his ear and silently nodding his head while listening to someone else, decide that this would be the perfect time to ask who is on the other end of the conversation? She has been using a telephone for at least half a century and is aware how a conversation is conducted. One person says words into his phone as the other one silently listens. Then the speaker becomes a listener and the other person talks. She... Sign in to see full entry.

The further adventures of Braindamaged Man!

It turns out that after a couple days of sobering up, our thirty-one year old idiot neighbor, has come to the conclusion that he very likely put both his vehicles into ditches, all by himself. The sequence of events probably went something like this: After being brutally and severely over-served at a local watering establishment, Donnie made a heroic attempt to bring his Mustang home via back roads because there are a lot of bad drivers out here in Arenac County. Couldn’t risk getting his... Sign in to see full entry.

I am not ACTUALLY balding, I just pull my hair out, from frustration!

Last night, Marilyn’s son spent a good part of the early evening bending his elbow. I heard a vehicle go into the ditch opposite his driveway, but I figured that since it was facing towards the Rifle River, heading in the direction of the campground at the end of our road and off the wrong side of the road, it must have been driven by some OTHER idiot. I mentioned the ditching to Marilyn and said that I hoped that whoever drove their car into the ditch, did not come here asking to use our phone.... Sign in to see full entry.

Commentary from a dog and another from a cat!

This is something that my sister just sent me. She may have written it, but I really don't know. I hope that I'm not stealing it from someone, but this sounds like what I think cats and dogs would say, if they could talk. It is also extremely funny! Guy DOG DIARY 8:00 am - Dog food! My favorite thing! 9:30 am - A car ride! My favorite thing! 9:40 am - A walk in the park! My favorite thing! 10:30 am - Got rubbed and petted! My favorite thing! 12:00 PM - Lunch! My favorite thing! 1:00 PM - Played... Sign in to see full entry.

A case of mistaken ability, NOT mistaken identity!

My boss tells me that whenever she sees David Caradine, she thinks of me. For some reason, he reminds her of me. I do not think there is much physical resemblance between the two of us, so I wonder what she thinks Caradine, and I have in common. We both have somewhat angular facial features and a lean build, but beyond that, I just do not see a resemblance. I realize that Caradine’s cinematic roles must have given him an aura of wisdom, feline grace, and dangerous physicality, in her mind.... Sign in to see full entry.
