If you want to catch and hold a young boy’s undivided attention, just say the word “ firecracker.” All boys live by the philosophy that says, “A firecracker is a terrible thing to waste.” Some ignorant people, would profligately blow off a whole string of precious firecrackers all at once, (MADNESS!) instead of unwinding the fuses and separating each valuable firecracker from its brothers so it could be savored and appreciated properly. A short reposting from January, '09. Why do we all enjoy jokes involving those in the legal profession, SO MUCH? I suppose that since everybody knows that "ignorance of the law is NO excuse," and we all feel powerless in such occasional brushes up against the law, it is immensely satisfying to see the tables turned, once in a while. Luckily for me, I have found a local lawn mower repairman, one who doesn’t intend to retire on what he charges me to keep my mowers in running order. During the last couple of weeks, my riding mower's pull starter cord and recoil mechanism stopped recoiling and starting it. Then, to add insult to injury, yesterday my push mower's, pull starter cord’s braided nylon outside layer has skinned back, revealing the braided center core, and for the fourth time it has begun sputtering to a stop after... Time sure does fly by, when one looks back to important milestones, memorable trips, and big events that are clearly remembered, feel as though they only just happened. I visited my brother in New Mexico in December of '07 (can this be correct?) more than two and a half years ago, but it seems to me like a very recent event! I don't know what I did wrong awhile ago, but my Sunday morning blog got posted side by side with yesterdays blog, somehow making my newer one impossible to edit. My lifelong best friend since 1958, Dave Bradbury, just sent me this. As if you couldn't guess, David is a foaming, RABID Repugnican. I despise both of the two main political parties, the ones that might be allowed, by " the powers that be," to hand over the reins of power, to their mirror-image political opposite, alternately.
